I love SVTs, especially if its a backline. My bestie had one. We woukd swap all the time, me with the GK RB and Mesas.

My tones:
Clanky jazz
Boomy Stingray
Pbass rolled tone all the way

I never had any of them. Someday, perhaps. In the meantime I'm having a lot of fun with other basses and other tones.

achieves the ultimate bass tone. I did the whole search and once I did a Fender P + Ampeg SVT and Fridge it ended. Such a classic combo. Solid Fender P + SVT and Fridge is the standard for a reason. I played all the bass classics, several rig combos and basses and just grab an SVT CL, Fridge, good Fender P. Cereal.

I kid of course, your rig is awesome and clearly I love the bass too! That cord though. It is great when you finally find what does it for you and at least surpresses GAS!

It was a long time before I was able to get the rig. However, I also sold one and know how hard they are to unload so if you really want a classic Ampeg stack, watch your local want ads and be patient. Some one will come along selling the whole thing for 1200.

Yeah. It's an AV63 from that great last run Fender did. There is something special about the pick up on that thing. It's the only P bass of my several that I keep rounds on. It just sounds so good.

I have one, when I had a Ampeg 810, but I use a Berg NV610, so I use the "Swing Clip-On Guitar Hanger for Amps", which is sold by many places, online Link Removed

A Precision is almost certainly the best bass at getting a Precision bass tone that is the ultimate bass tone when you want one that sounds exactly like a Precision. Unless it's active with less standard pickups in, in which case it is not a very Precisiony Precision and isn't precisely what is needed.

I agree with the point about using an SVT. I use an SVT head and either an 810 or 410 cab depending on the venue. As far as the bass is concerned, it really depends on the song. Sometimes I use an MIA P, sometimes an MIA J, an Alembic Epic 5 or a Spector 5 neck thru.

I have the HLF410. Fridge is a bit too much for most gigs we play. But trust me when I say it’s sounds amazing. P has TI Flats. I always get compliments on my tone. I love my Spector and Warwick but this combo kills. Every time all the time.

Forget the rounds vs flats discussion. Everyone knows you can’t get the ultimate P bass tone without a Tortoise guard. Yeah, I said it.
