I got a call back today from the tech, he was super busy and didn't go into detail but he told me the amp is fixed and that it was a bad preamp tube and a few other "small" things. Ill post tomorrow exactly what went wrong with the amp. Can't wait to plug it back in :)

Looking at the graphs in Bass Gear Mag the mid Q point or mid pivot point (not sure of correct terminology) is pretty well fixed and is fairly unaffected by sweeps of the bass and treble controls. The ramp from bass to the mid point is affected so there will be increased low mids. When the mid control is at 10 the mids pivot point is at its highest no matter where the bass and treble is set, though the curve from bass to mid or treble to mid will differ.

On the other hand, according to my understanding of the illustrations in BGM, the bass and treble are more significantly affected by sweeps in the mid control. If the mids are increased then the bass and treble follow to some degree, and similarly, if the mid control is decreased then the bass and treble is to a degree decreased.

Husky, to answer your question. The mids stay put no matter whether the bass is at 1 or 3.

I just pulled the trigger on a brand new Fender Super Bassman 300 that should be arriving at the end of next week. I'm super stoked! :bassist:

I've been trying to decide between the 100T and the 300 for some time, and I have read through both 100T threads and the 300 thread. In the end I landed on the 300, mainly because I already own a 1975 Bassman 100 head(blackface-modded), and because I've never before owned a 300w tube head. It's about time! ;)

I'm a big fan of 15" cabs, and I wanted to get two Fender Neo115's. Unfortunately they won't be available here until April. In the meantime I'll be using my GK Neo 212's(one or two depending on the setting).

you know, I changed my mind big time about this amp after hearing it with their 6x10 cab. Previously I had heard it with an Ampeg fridge (a bad one), and it seemed to compress like mad and just didn't sound at all happy. But with the 6x10 Femnder it is a different animal. Like the Bowlus said, it is fantastic in every way, definitely gigable, tons of power, great tubby, warm sound, really rich overdrive. And the cab feels very very light for it's size. And having had the original blackface Bassman 2x12 as my first amp, the one my mom got me, I absolutely adore the looks. Black and silver all the way for me. Although I'd like the blonde more if the cab and head had rattan....

Nice work, Fender! They are also building the best basses of my lifetime (since Leo left) right now. Fender's back.

Now if they's just build a good MODERN 6 string jazz without the noisy preamp...white...with a maple fingerboard, block MOP white inlays, white binding, white pearl pickguard...

You heard it here first.

So, has anyone ordered a padded cover for their Super Bassman 300 yet? So far in this thread, it seems like at least Tim1 has. Where was that from?

I have found places online where I can send in the measurements, but if someone else already did and got a cover that's working well, I'll just order from the same place.

If not, I'll send in the measurements, and report back once I have the cover.

BTW, I'm looking for covers with openings for the side handles, but that might go without saying.

My beautiful new Super Bassman 300 has arrived, and yesterday I got to use it for the first time, at a band rehearsal through a GK Neo212(excuse the poor quality of the pics).

I love it!! The band I rehearsed with is a rock/metal-type project, and I get my overdrive from pedals(in this setting), so I was looking for a clean tube tone. With the Overdrive-channel(Blend on 1), all EQ-knobs in their center position and Channel volume at 5, it pretty much sounded perfect! Dynamic and punchy, and not slow at all(which is something I sometimes feel with tube amps for this kind of music).

Next week I'l be trying out the Vintage channel with a different project...

Played an outdoor gig yesterday. Subs on the PA were not working so PA only took vocals, a drum overhead and some guitar spread. I took the SB300 and my Berg NV215 - amazing sound, did not miss the subs out front at all I am told, but what impressed me was the sound onstage. Often outdoors the bass can sound a little thin without some decent sidefill but with the Berg 215 and the 300 it was great. Warm, punchy and deep on what was to all extents and purposes an open stage, I will be taking the neo 610 to the next gig which is indoors but man that 215/SB300 combo was pure magic outdoors.
