The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

I brought my SB out tonight to a 75 min gig.
About 3 songs in I saw smoke coming from behind me. I turned in fear and saw this smoke emanating from behind my amp. I kept playing because the sound was just too good to stop.
I was thinking “holy cow, my amp must be going up in total flames!!!”
I walked over to my amp and then I saw it. The smoke machine tucked behind my amp on the floor of the drum riser.
I turned around and kept jamming without missing a beat with a smile of relief on my face.
After the show I told my wife about it and she said “That’s funny, because from where I was, it looked like it was coming from your butt.”

Had a country festival gig
I used the SVT410HLF that was for the headline act. .but had to use my amp ...wasn't gonna "suffer"

The 410HLF sounded good. .better than I remember it. ..but of course, I didn't have the Super Bassman then

Last gig of our Christmas season completed, and I used my SB300/410 Neo for the vast majority of the gigs, and it slayed
I just bought the SB300/Neo 6x10. Holy crap... its amazing!
I use mine sometimes with the TC electronic RS212 cab/or cabs or an 8x10 ampeg. I switched from Markbass after playing through a friends SB300 and an 4x10 cab one night. It's not overbearingly loud, but solid , has a presence to it and it just blends right with whatever I'm doing lately. Works amazing with my upright also.

As you say, has a presence to it. ..blends in and solid. .. and yeah. .. I use it with upright too. Superb.
I've been playing live since I was 14y.o. C'77
My dad bought me my 1st amp. ..a 100w all tube Aus made Vase Bassman (sorta a copy of the Fender of the time ) with a 215 cab ...since then I've used a stack of different amps. .. I still think this Super Bassman is the best sounding one I've used.
That it's got 2 footswitchable channels and that you can blend the drive into yr clean signal. ..thus not losing any bottom end. ..and that is only 65lbs. ... all icing on the cake imo.
As I've stated many times. .. I was gonna get an SVT-VR- which I still think is a superb sounding amp - and that the Super Bassman will nail that amps tone (& power ) with the above "icing" , and being 20lbs lighter. .. I'm still giddy with joy ... 5 yrs on

After a week off of gigging for christmas, my band was back at it with a 3 hour show last night.
The temps were low here in Chicago, around 14• F and about 2”-3” of snow. The wife and I trekked about 20 miles to get to the venue that took about an hour (added 20 min).
The SB handled the weather and trip well. Had a blast playing another gig with it. Just realized I had it for 2 years! Still a great piece of engineering.
I used the OD channel last night, dialed in a sweet subtle OD tone, and went to work. I usually use the vintage channel but I was feeling a bit reckless and went for it. It was superb!
Still loving this amp.

I had forgotten just how good the Super Bassman is! Gigged it yesterday with my Barefaced Four 10 and the sheer mids punch and control was stunning. I have been using the Orange AD200 with this cab but I think this will be it for a while. Absolute grunt, actually very reminiscent of my old svt2 nonpro into a fridge or Berg NV610 with little eq - just Fender flat (roughly - 3/9/2) and cranked it. The cab punched like I have not heard it before.
Just in case you were wondering how durable it is, I dropped my SB300 
but it works fine.
I havent found a case for it yet so i've been carrying it in a padded 15" speaker bag. I had a furman power strip in there and it landed on it and crushed the damn thing it's so heavy!
Kudos to Fender for a well made product but man that was scary!

Just curious is there a regular Fender bassman club? Oh yeah the guitar players stole them all
I have an excellent condition 67 silverface head and cab that sounds great although I've only taken it out of my bedroom once for a gig in a small room and it actually did very well for itself. I normally use Ampegs but started out with Bassman's and Dual Showman's and still really like the sound of them.

And yes it is a MIM Lacquer Precision.
That bass has been my number one all year. I dropped some EMG GZRs in it. Absolutely love that bass, and it is wearing very nicely.

I fianaly was able to afford this so I wanted to share since you guys might think it’s cool and my band mates and girlfriend who are all non bass players just shrug there shoulders.
It sounds great with my fender pro cabs which I still think are over looked because people think they are the old bassman series that wasn’t so good.

Congrats. They may shrug... but do they shrug once they hear this Super Bassman in a band setting? It sits in a mix like no other imo.
And those Bassman cabs are superb and seem very similar to the current neo loaded Bassman series. They do sound different than the neo loaded ones but are all great cabs.
