The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

And those Bassman cabs are superb and seem very similar to the current neo loaded Bassman series. They do sound different than the neo loaded ones but are all great cabs.

I loved the neo cabs that I played. Compared to the pro I noticed more of a difference from the 410 than the 610 strangely enough. All sounded great to my ears. Biggest difference is weight and the neos look cooler. They look so good... I almost grabbed the neo 610 but the back was peeling off and when I knocked on the side the wood seemed to be less quality. I should have looked but do the new 610’s have the spring loaded handles on the bottom? Comparing my 300 pro and SB300 was like night and day though. Both super cool amps but that bassman sits in the mix like crazy and only took me like 30 seconds to find a jaw dropping tone. None of my notes got lost either. My 300 pro gets some amazing tones also but can be a head ache if gets bumped and the switches get moved... Which is why people aren’t aloud to help me move it so much anymore. The SB300 is gonna save my old man back for sure.

Exactly! The Super Bassman is 'plug n play ' in this regard. So thick n tubby...
As far as I know the 610 neo does have the spring loaded handles under it.

Sweet! I always loved that feature and pumped fender is still doing it. I’m really happy currently with my 610. It’s super fat sounding but I still have a little part of me that knows if a new 610 bassman shows up on the used market in Denver I’m gonna jump all over it.

Late last year I posted about recording the bass on my band's latest single using a P bass straight into my Super Bassman. The single came out last week (anyone in Australia catch it on Triple J last night?), and as promised, I'm sharing it here to show how great the tone of the Super Bassman is.

Here's the full track:



And here's a small snippet of everything stripped out except for the bass and the drums.

too much gain
roll off the lows, sounds a bit muffled..

Reminds me of a lot of old Fat Wreck / Epitaph stuff. I dig it! Where can I send money to get this song and its mates downloaded to my devices?

That's a shout out to the store that I bought my Super Bassman from.... after alerting THEM to Fender's new line of tube amps.. and buying the SB300 off em... they proceeded to charge me for every single one of the 7 picks I thought I'd grab while I was there....:sour: I thought that after buying $2k amplifier (that they didn't know existed the week prior) they might throw in a few picks.... :banghead: nup! $3.50 charged on top of the. $2k or so... for the 7 x .50c picks. :laugh:

I wasn't that keen on it either... until I put a NOS 5751 tube in. . I swapped em both back n forth but the 5751 gave a smoother, creamier. OD now I'm pretty keen on it . Ymmv of course
