Yea, sweetwater is always on point. Did your amp drop in volume as the auto bias isolated that tube pair or did it get ugly?

Yea, sweetwater is always on point. Did your amp drop in volume as the auto bias isolated that tube pair or did it get ugly?
Glad yr liking the amp. It sure is an amp with a heap of 'feel' . Very responsive and seems to give a li'l as you play. Hard to explain. ... But. .. It's almost alive
not only does it sound great into a big sealed cab but it also sounds great into a small 112 for example. I've found (into a sealed 412 or 810 at least) that it just really opens up the more you give it, the harder you push the master vol and then crank the channel vol's.
Especially on the vintage channel... not only is it tubey and lush but it also punches like a heavyweight. ... Yet it IS a light heavyweight

It seems any problems aside from the rare autobias issue relates to poor tube construction, at least compared to NOS tubes. I just read about a guy with his second round of power tubes in his 70's svt...thats longevity!

Got ugly. Almost thought it was my cab. Just got distorted and hummed strangely.
All tubes fail at some time. I think one of my NOS 5751'S I put in v1 or v2 in my Super Bassman might be on the fritz.
Very occasionally I'll turn mine outta standby and I'll get a whirring, Hi pitched noise. . It's happened say. ..3 times I the last 20 uses of the amp.
I've started taking a cuppla good new 12AX7 tubes as spare but it hasn't done it since.
The 3 times it happened, I switched the amp off. .. waited a minute then turned it back on again. .... Then a minute or so later- outta standby and the noise had gone.
Tubes. Gotta love em.

The first time that happened you should have jumped on talkbass and went on a rant about low QC at fender and how (insert foreign people) can't build amps, and then tout the virtues of your 1 lb. Class d 2000 watt SS head.
I woulda shoulda coulda but they were MY NOS 5751's not the stock GT's 
Got my replacement head, crossed my fingers and everything is working perfectly. What a beast...so happy!
Svt settings, blend in gain for taste. The high mids boosted gets the SVT thing down EXACTLY. I would invoke a blindfold test and pay whoever could tell the difference.
I'll be running channel 1 clean and channel 2 as the "svt" with a b7k in front of it. The only downer is that its the slowest time of year for gigs.

The tweeter makes a difference with my settings, I run the tweeter at 25%. Are both the cabs tweeter less?

Got my Bag End S15-D, what a cute little guy!
It sounds great with the SB300, very focused and surprisingly solid down low, even though it rolls off all the sub-bass. Great sound, midrangey/growly/rich/fat in a small package. I have a S15X-D (with the tweeter) arriving next monday. Can't wait to set up my mini-stack of doom. It might look weird with the SB300 on top, I'll take pics and let you all decide.

I had a s15d/S15XD stck a number of years ago, never used it with a tube amp but it was a killer combo
Oh, and oaklandthumb, I tried out your SVT setting, sounds great!
The high mid boost makes it super aggressive sounding, blends really well in a rock setting though! All that clack and clank
Hey gang. So a while ago I had a problem with the auto bias on my SB300. I went to a rehearsal, plugged in my rig and it wasn't working. I posted this on TB at the time and within a few hrs I had a response from fender. Rob Schwarz responded and hooked me up with Don Wiggins at fender. Within a week they had me hooked up with a repair place and I had my amp back working perfectly. I just wanted to say how amazing their customer service was and how blown away I was to have that kind of service by them. Not only is this my favorite amp but I have a new respect for the fender company. Just thought I'd share.
The bias issue was far more concerned with the 100T than the Super Bassman, possibly because it is wired in differently in the SB300. There have been relatively very few problems with the SB300.
There were mutterings about a ribbon cable and about a chip, I don't think anyone has ever categorically stated what caused the problem - but at least Fender have dealt with it professionally and it seems to be a quick and easy fix if it occurs.

The Super Bassman is my favorite all tube amp ever. That's saying a lot as I've been using all tube amps since the 70s. SVTs, Bassmans, Mesas, I've either owned or played many many of them. I don't think I've ever played a HIWATT tho.
The Super Bassman just does all the good things ya want of an all tube amp.
Power, punch, versatile eq, great overdrive. .. you name it.... It does it..
