The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Two or 3 pages back someone posted SVT settings for the active channel.
They sound good. I still like the vintage channel best.

I like it Heaps better than my old SVTII non pro and the VR's I've tried. I love them don't get me wrong, but this Super Bassman is just the BOMB!
It'll do what the SVT does but so much more and is 20lbs lighter.

Here's the 'SVT' settings

I'm simply keeping to the typical TB decorum by going over and over the same stuff week to week month to month.. You could be happy that i didnt start a whole new thread to ask that question.. HA;)
It couldn't be that the search function is just so advanced that one wouldn't have to weed through 1500 posts?... yeah, maybe that's it:banghead::rollno:

It just gives us SB300 owners one more opportunity to lament about how awesomely, stupendously fantastic these amps sound. Which gets us through until our next gig. :D

Yes, the SB300 will easily cop an SVT tone. I like both the SVT settings Rod shared above along with the Vintage channel - hard for me to say which I like more, to be honest. I go back and forth. Play them through two Ampeg 212AV cabs and it's every bit as good as (if not better than) the SVT/810e combination - at least to me. And 65 pounds is about what I can carry a moderate distance - the extra 20+lbs of the SVT do make a difference. Get one and I bet you'll join in on the love fest soon enough... :bassist:

Overdrive Settings to Sound Like Orange Terror (or more hopefully like an Orange AD200 Bass Mrk II)

Way back on thread #1538 (page 77 to my browser) I asked about the SB 300 settings that would emulate an Orange bass amp. Well I have answered my own question. I borrowed a small orange bass amp and dialed in on the overdrive channel as close as I could. Here are the settings:

Treble bright is pulled.

I have added this in hopes that someone with an actual Orange AD200 Bass may try these and tweak them. Anyway, I am glad to share these and I hope someone finds them useful when asked "hey, could you sound more like an Orange, you know, grittier"

Never tried to get the Orange sound from the SB300 since I always go to the Orange if I want that sound, but will try doing it at the weekend. Bear in mind that I use the Orange as a clean amp, not for its overdrive sound as many others do. I tend to match amps to speakers these days, each has its own rig: SB300 with Fender neo 810, Orange AD200 with Berg NV215 or NV115, Ampeg V4B with SVT212AV or 210AVs and Trace Elliot V4 with Ampeg 410HLF.
Seemed like the only way I could make sense of owning too much gear and spending 2014 on an insane tube head hunt :rolleyes:

I know I read about this somewhere in this thread, but I can't find it. I went to power on the amp this morning but nothing turns on. The power light in the front nor the bias lights. I am getting glow from the tubes and some hum of power but that is all. Any suggestions? I just got this the other day and have only used it for practice. Brand new. ***??

Sometimes brand new things break down.
All it takes is one part that's not up to spec.
When I was building transmitters for Motorola,
we'd sometimes have one crap out in final test/fine tuning.
A 48 hour burn in at full power was implimented that kept
99.9% of them from dying when they reached the customer.
Fender finds it cheaper to just replace the ones that don't make it.

I understand. I'm just bummed that is just "happened" with no fan fair. I wasn't rockin' out and blowing the place up with my magic power. Nope, I turned it on at 8:30am to try out that SVT setting you guys are all talking about and it just didn't turn on. Lol. Either way a new one will be coming.
I just would like to know how to fix this for further reference. If it is a common problem I don't want to haul it in all the time.
