Well, the drivers - being neodymium-based - are lighter than the equivalent, ceramic-based drivers in the Rumble series. I was just pointing out that the weight savings comes from the enclosure, not the drivers.

Did a gig over the weekend without any problems but when powering on this morning the volume on my super bassman 300 is totally reduced. Second channnel is still loud but the vintage channel is completely weak. Tubes visually all looks okay and bias lights all green...

Any ideas what might be the problem?

Try swapping v1 pre amp tube with a known good one. Most likely it if it's only on ch1

Well I actually do not have any lying around, any other way to check or best to get a new tube? Any idea what would case it to fail or become problematic? I have not used the amp a lot in total probably only 30-40 hours...

I have checked the manual as below, in this case both C1 and C2 will however be reduced in volume if the power amp driver(s) fail?

PROBLEM: Signals are present and working normally in the PREAMP
OUT {W} and XLR (PRE or POST position) {AA} jacks -AND- Automatic
Bias display {T} shows all output tubes are good (solid green LEDs),
but the Power amplifier lacks power and punch, sounds different
than normal, or produces no sound from speaker.
SOLUTIONS: Power amp driver tube V3 (12AX7) and/or V4 (12AT7)
has failed. Replace V3 with a new tube. If the amplifier still does not
produce sound, replace V4 with a new tube.

Try swapping another 12AX7 in the amp with ch1's 12AX7. See if the problem follows

Man, the few problems there have been with this amp always seems to come down to cheap stock tubes.

Never replaced any tubes yet, are you saying that the default Fender supplied tubes are not that good and one should replace with better ones later? What make would you recommend?

The fender stocks are fine, for most people. They may have a 13% fail rate, where as a different tube may sound "better" and have a 7% fail rate. I personally use tube amps until there is a problem with a tube....in this case you may be lucky that it's a cheap little 12ax7 and not a powe tube. Some guys have gone a decade on the same tubes.

I have the stock tubes in my amp. It's the best.

I swapped my v1 & V2 out with some NOS 5751s only coz I had them sitting around, not because there was anything wrong with the stock ones.
Tubes can go..... That's all there is to it. The nature of the beast.
I'll be surprised if it's anything other than a dodgy 12AX7 giving problems to BASSTONIC

Hi Guys I have changed v1 tube and channel one is now 'louder' but not as loud as when compared to channel 2 which is okay in terms of volume. Now if channel 2 is okay in volume then the problem is not all all with the power preamp tubes (v3 and v4 correct?). I have thought in any case of checking v3 and v4 by changing it but for some other reason I just can get v3 out of its socket? v4 came out relatively easily. Any advice?

Channel 2 can often appear louder simply because of its different eq and gain structure. so I would not necessarily worry too much simply because the vintage channel is not as loud as channel 2 with the gains on the same setting.
You have to wiggle the tubes gently from side to side while pulling upwards to remove them, be patient and it should come out.

This has been dealt with several times in this thread. In essence, those of us with an SB300 who have also owned SVTs maintain we can eq the SB300 to get an SVT tone, plus the SB300 is way more versatile and 20 pounds lighter. Of course YMMV.
