The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Ok. I am looking to pick one of these 300's up. I have a few questions.

Did the auto bias issue get fixed? And if so, what year or what should I look for if it did?

Would a GB Uber 410T go well with this head?

I've had my SB300 for a year and a half with no issues whatsoever. I've heard of autobias issues with the 100T, but not the 300. I've not paired the SB300 with that particular cab but have tried both with other combos. I have no reason to think that pairing would be anything less than fantastic...

Very good to hear. I am more than likely going to pick one up this week as I am currently on vacation. I might take a ride to Chicago Music Exchange with my bass and cab to test it out.

I am sure it does, but I don't really want to buy another cabinet. I am way ahead of the game in amps and cabs as it is.

I can only imagine it sounding good through the GB uber 410T also.

Well I did it! I just purchased the Fender Super Bassman 300 (SB300), brand new in the box from a store out in NY.

I paid $1200, I knew if I didn't jump on it I would be so sorry. $600 off retail, I think I did good.

I assume you're buying a SUPER BASSMAN and not the older Bassman 300 Pro? Both great amps but, imo, the Super Bassman eats its predecessor for sheer tubey lush tone.

I bought this one. It is NIB and built on 11-3-2014, from what the sticker on the box indicates.

Well I took the SB300/610 Neo combo to rehearsal tonight - which is complete overkill - but I wanted the hear the 610 Neo in context with the band. It just slayed it. Not sure if the NV412 or 610 Neo is my favorite. Both are awesome. The NV412 would definitely be my choice on a smaller stage, I think it is louder close to the cab and thumpier, but the 610 on a really big stage would just be a monster. It was great at lower volumes tonight, but it would shine on a big stage.

Further to this - I took my Fender Reggie Hamilton CS PJ5 and Squier VMP5 with me, and ended up playing the VMP5 all night. Sounded amazing. I can't believe how well that bass plays, and how it sounds thru the SB300/610. 2 basses from complete opposite ends of the spectrum, and the difference between is so minimal it is scary.

Totally agree, the 610 is a wonderfully versatile cab, does not look too big and OTT for medium stages and capable of handling the bigger ones too. I just have the neo 810 now and while it does physically rule the stage I have used it with the sb300 at a few outdoor concerts and it punches through with power to spare, real authority and the combination does not even seem to break into a sweat. But if I did not have any other cabs and just had to choose one for the sb300 for all gigs it would be the neo 610.

Wow! Superb rig! I wouldn't have any worries about it. If it all worked when you checked it over, I'm sure it'll be good to go for the gig. It'll sound fan-bl@@dy-tastic thru the GB Uber cab! (Just so you know. ..... "fan-bl00dy-tastic" is Awe -stralian for damn good! )
I'm using my Super Bassman with just the one 115 Bassman Pro Neo cab tonight. I forgot to take pics at set up/sound check, but I'll take a few at the gig tonight.
We're playing a wedding that's in a marquee set up on the hockey field of my old high school! Right on the waterfront, with beaches on either side.
We used to daydream looking out the windows when I was at the school. ....... & get growled at by the teachers! But. ....with that view?
Anyway, I digress. .... I'm hoping the 115 will be enough cab. It DID sound great at s/check. .. able to be at the volume where the amp was JUST breaking up when I dug in!
Looking forward to tonight. Will report more. ......
