Well I have posted this in a couple of places.. but I feel that it belongs here too since I found this thread!

I have not made it all the way through this thread.. but I have to ask.. have any of you all done or know of others having done any tube rolling with these amps.. tried Telefunkens?

I tried a few different tubes in the pre amp. Settled on NOS Raytheon 5751's (iirc) in V1 & 2 . Seemed to give a slightly rounder, gruntier drive when that channel (OD) was pushed.
I've not tried any other power tubes.

I listened to the clip that you linked. I presume that you were using the second channel. When you tested the different tubes (which ones did you use?) how much if any noticeable difference was there in the clean mode either on channel one or two?

On the SB300.... yes, correct.
The process was:
1. I recorded it on my digital multi-track recorder flicking between channels for the final "mix".
So, in other words, I first recorded a dry loop in my Zoom B3 and left it playing.
2. I then recorded the first tube's sound on Channel 1 in my Zoom R24.
3. I then swapped the tube and "re-wound" the recorder to record the second tube's sound on Channel 2 in the Zoom.
(etc. for the third tube.)
4. I then played the recording back, flicking between each Channel as I recorded the master (what you are hearing) externally.

If you look down below the blue box on the page you'll see: 1. OEM tube 100% gain 2. Tungsol 100% 3. Tube Store 100% 4,5,6. (repeat) 7. OEM 50% 8. Tungsol 50% 9. Tube Store 50% 10,11,12 (repeat). They were the three I had on hand that were tested. I recorded four bars of the riff for each change from memory. All settings were left untouched for the recording process.

Been a very worthy start to the year, but coming in to a run of gigs as of this weekend. Looking forward to getting the SB300 firing! Haven't decided on either the 610 or 410 Neo yet!

From what I have been reading, the 610 works perfect with the SB300. There was one in TB classifieds for sale, another that GC has for sale too..

That said. .. I do love pushing the Super Bassman into just the one 115 coz I can actually PUSH the power tubes a bit more.
What cha all reckon???,?

I have just ordered a Barefaced Four 10 with the silver cloth grill. I have a feeling it should look and sound magic underneath the Super Bassman.

Was a great gig. Crowd loved it. Bass rig sounded phenomenal! Thick, solid n punchy. None better. ....imo of course.
