Sounds like the cab being supplied as part of the backline for a gig I'm playing this weekend in an Ampeg 610. Anyone tried a Super Bassman through one?
When doing a support for an act at the entertainment centre just the other day. I think most of the back line was brought with the main act. And we were "allowed" to use it. To my surprise. ..a Super Bassman and neo 610. Very nice! ! Tho I didn't have time to assist things much. ..just plug n play thru the vintage channel. ..kept it simple.
Yeah this is the headliner providing the cab and were to bring our own heads. So I'll be able to do a bit of twiddling.
I'm interested in people's thoughts on the Bass control on the Vintage Channel.
Flat on these apparently is 2-10-2 so flat for Bass is around 2. I run mine on 3 or 4 - depending on the room.
Upwards of 5 however sounds like it really isn't adding more bass, it more sounds like it helps put the tubes into saturation. Obviously the tubes are saturating due to the extra low end, but I expected there would still be a significant increase in low end. Engage the Deep switch however, and there is a ton of extra low end, but the tubes aren't really saturating.
Is this what others are finding with there SB300's?

So I'm a few gigs down with the Superbassman, and am really impressed. The thing sounds fantastic, and I'm very happy with the move to tubes.
However I'm yet to have a sound guy that will mic it up (I have asked). It's either their DI or the DI on the amp. A part of me's wondering what's the point of it if all I'm getting is pre-powertubes to FOH - I could run a Bassman 500 and and get the same thing. What's everyone else doing? One option would be to invest in my own Radial JDX 48 DI and run it post amp. Or do people just put up with pre-power tubes going to FOH?

I went out and purchased a Mic and stand in the end, and when they hand me the xlr to plug into my DI, I plug into that. My reasons for doing this pre date getting an SB300 - I was using my Berg NV412. I came to the conclusion that the eq on my Head was set to get a great sound from that cab, and the FOH set up was not sealed and tweeterless like the NV412, and therefore the FOH Tech would be having to eq it fairly significantly, and there was no guarantee it would be how I wanted it to sound.
I ended up getting an AKG P2 and an Audix Cabgrabber and I have been really happy with how they sound. Placement/positioning relative to the cone effects how bright/dull the tone is - so it is worth reading up. I also keep a cheap Pre with me (Beh'r MIC200) incase they want line level. Great sounding, cheap pre IMO.
On another topic - Does the 410 Neo have skid rails on the back like the 610? I can't find pics or info anywhere!
It does not. Another reason for why we should order a cover. However it's light enough that's it's easy to pick up and place straight in the back of my car without needing to slide it.
Thought that might be the case. Oh well. Once mine arrives we can get something sorted regarding a cover.
I hope so! In a perfect world I would have grabbed a 115 but this was 30% cheaper than anywhere else, and the same price as a 115 would've cost me. Really like the 610, so I'm sure I will.You're going to like that 410 Neo.
I had the 115 Neo at first, then changed it out for the 410 Neo, after a side by side comparison. The 115 Neo had a good sound, but the 410 Neo had a bit more of an overall sound.
