The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

After months of playing through the Overdrive channel exclusively, I decided to give the Vintage channel a run at rehearsal on Thursday.
Initially, I was a little disappointed. It sounded fine tone-wise, but didn't seem to have as much power (read:volume and presence) as the OD channel.
I thought: "I wonder how that "Deep" switch would affect it?" So I pulled the bass knob out and was absolutely blown away by how it sounded in the overall band context! It filled the room with warm, LOUD bass goodness like I'd never heard before. My bandmates asked me what I had done. They were very impressed!
Suggestion: Give it a try! Just make sure you have a cab that can handle it!

Absolutely agree about the Vintage Channel. The Gain on the Overdrive really boosts the volume. I was about even for a bit on my channel selection for a while, then used the Vintage more, until lately I haven't used the Overdrive at all. The Vintage Channel does have that 60's sound to it.

Same here. Some say they don't let the complexity of it. ...but take away the blend control & ch:2 is basically as ch:1 but with a sweepable mid control. Both channels have pull switches.... ya don't HAVE to use em.
Anyway. ..what seems simple for some. ............ :woot:

It really does what it's supposed to do. I had the deep bass pull on a Mesa M6 Carbine head, it worked well on it too, but didn't have the same effect like with a full tube head.

I put a deposit down on a 410 Neo this week, as I managed to sell one of my Eden Cabs. Looking forward to getting it in the next few weeks.

With the 610 and 410 Neo - I really can't see me rolling the Berg NV412 out the door to a gig. It sounds freaking awesome, but how do you leave the matching 610 or 410 cab home and take the NV412? It's sad to say - but the NV412 might be for sale soon.

That sounds good. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. The Bassman 410 Neo compliments the Super Bassman so well.

Pino's been using the SB300 since at least the Quadrophenia tour of a couple/three years back. I was on the fence about getting my SB300 until hearing him from the front row on more than one occasion. It's what pushed me over the edge :-)
Slightly OT ... Pino uses his OC-2 A LOT in the stage mix. Like more than 50% of the time. You almost never hear it in the FOH mix, tho it has popped out on a couple of occasions on some Utube vids. Can't wait to see them in May at the end of the tour (and yes, I have 2nd row right in front of Roger for the finale of the tour).

I love the vintage round sound outta the 115 Bassman Pro Neo cabs but on the other end of the spectrum. ...it sounds great thru the Berg AE410 too. And the NV412 ....and the SVT810E.
I've used it thru the Fender Bassman Pro Neo 610 too which sounded great too. But I still think the NV412 is king. Better even than the 810E and just punchier than both the 115 & 610 Bassmans. Still retains the vintage-ey vibe (I s'pose no tweeter & being sealed helps this) but slugs ya in the cods like none other I've tried.

Great amp, I just go with the Vintage, one the Overdrive.
