The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

I'm glad I went for the 410 over the 115. In comparison, the Fender 410 Neo is quite a short, wide cab, and as someone who is used to 610s and 412s I think I would have struggled with the even shorter 115. In saying that, with the SB300 the sound seems to be everywhere filling the room compared to most other amps, so it may well have been fine.

It is an older model with the spring loaded side handles rather than the current ones. SOme have complained they rattle but I'm not sure how with the rubber grips on them.

Hey! That looks great! Congrats on the Neo 410. I'm sold on my Bassman setup.

That's strange that it's got the spring handles - as you know I got mine at the same shop, and didn't even notice a difference when they were sitting next to each other. Just double checked though and mines definitely got the recessed handles.

Yep, my 810 has the spring loaded handles underneath. Doesn't bother me at all. I spent most of the nineties heavily gigging a pair of SWR 410s with spring handles and never once heard a single rattle.

I've been running this combo for about 8 months and have been very happy. SBM300 w/ DB410, but like it was stated in a earlier post the DB410 cabs are heavy . But I love the tone with this setup and just chalked it up to heavy = tone. I really would like to try the Fender neo 410 but in the past neo's didn't stack up to the DB410 punch and depth of tone . Decisions , Decisions , Decisions ....

Neo designed cabs have come a long way in the past few years imo. There's NOTHING about the Bassman Pro Neo 115 cabs that I own that is "lightweight" except the light weight of em :smug:
The tone is all round, vintage 15" gooeyness ( & I'm not using the 15" as an excuse for a tone per se` just that WAYYYY back when I 1st started playing one really only used 15s for bass ... and these Bassman Pro Neo 115s remind me of the vintage sound of my old 215, but they're much much lighter weight & handle a BUTTLOAD of power. (That's a good thing btw);)
I've got a Bergantino AE410 ( 4 ohm neo loaded & ported design) & a Bergantino NV412 (sealed design with ceramic drivers) . Both hit HARD. Both. .very different sounding.
These days (as always really) I'd be buying after taking into account ALL the aspects of any cab you may be interested in. For me. ...tone 1st. Size and schleppability 2nd. Build quality 3rd. Weight 4th. Looks 5th. ..any other factors. ....etc etc.

Anyone have interest in a Kent custom Super bassman 300 tour head case. I'm thinking about selling it soon , as my touring days are nearly over ;-) . It is a high quality case (Kent Custom is top notch) . The picture is when I received it last summer and is basically still in great condition . Let me know, just send me a PM . Figured I'd offer it up here before placing in classifieds. I also still have original packaging . It took about a month and a half to wait for it to be built and fits the Fender SBM 300 like a glove.

Yes, that's right Steve - my 610 Neo does have the spring loaded handles on the bottom panel - they're handy when negotiating stairs with an assistant, but in many ways a pair of side handles would be more useful in those situations

Right! Large cabs. ..whether heavy or only slightly heavy :) need all the damn handles they can get I reckon. Top -rear (towel bar if need be), side 2...the bottom ones like on the Fender 610 etc are a great bonus too... plus decent kick plates and wheels.
We don't need 496 handles per cab. ..:jawdrop: but designers should be thinking. ...."these guys are gonna be lifting these. ..possibly up n down stairs etc etc. .... and put good quality handles upon.
Even the NV Bergs could do with bottom handles a'la the Fender 610 & 810
All imo. ..ime. ..etc. ..

This combo is very good. Wish your SB300 was in oxblood/white! That would be amazing! If I had already owned a DB410, I would've kept it for sure, but I didn't so I had the luxury of choosing. The DB410 is significantly more expensive than the 410 Neo also.

I'm very tempted to buy some spring loaded handles like what are on my 410 Neo and NV412 and add them to my 610 Neo.

I know right . I got a great deal on the head so I took it. Ive Considered putting oxblood grill cloth on the front of it at least .. I will eventually get to it ...lol . I also have a aggie db751 in a white tolex head case that was why I originally went with the white hot cabs. White looks superb on stage .

That was my thought as well when I reviewed the Neo 610.
