The first stop in your musical time machine?

Mine = August 7, 1971 Pauley Pavilion - Zappa and the Mothers perform Billy The Mountain. Hearing it is one thing but seeing it would be another ball of wax entirely!
just another band from la cover.jpg

Twisted Wheel Club, Manchester, UK, autumn, 1966. This new band with John Mayall’s old guitarist and the former Graham Bond rhythm section is playing the midlands for the first time. Rumour has it that Chas Chandler is bringing a rhythm and blues guitarist that he just flew over from America so that he might be able to sit in. I’m sure Slowhand can show him a thing or two.

America in the 1950s... March 1951 in Memphis for the recording of "Rocket 88"... March 1952 in Cleveland for the Moondog Coronation Ball... July 1954 in Memphis at the Overton Park Shell for Elvis Presley's first concert... September 1956 in Tupelo, Mississippi for the little shindig shown below. Of course, the four decades that would follow were just packed full of the best years for popular music (and television... and film... and sports)... lots of time machine-stoppable moments for sure.
