here's my other fretless; an 89 Soundgear 800 that's on Thor's waiting list:

Dude! I have the exact same bass (SR800 LE), Either it's and 88 or 89. Defretted too.

Ian Perge. Loooving the blue lines - excellent idea and well executed.

Why thank you! :hyper: Believe me, I certainly put enough time into it - she was by no means a "rush job".

how long is Thor's waiting list these days?

I gave him a call for a spot on The List for my fretless Spector as soon as I had ordered it (June) and he told me "a year, maybe a bit less" at that point. I haven't called to check recently, so I'm not sure if it's been extended or not.

this is my 6-string Zon Hyperbass...and my original '62 Fender Jazz (modified "Bass of Doom")...both fretless...both sound completely different....both priceless

The fretboard is coated with Teak Oil, which fills in the obvious pores in the rosewood and generally hardens the fretboard without giving it an epoxy-like high-end. I highly recommend it for players who have rosewood or other softer fretboards and want to add some protection without changing the tone of your instrument:

+1
I applied teak oil to my Spectorcore's fretboard, and what a difference it makes. Previously, the rosewood would dry out too much. The teak oil gives the board a nice dark appearance and it seems more "healthy". It allows the notes to sing out a little more, even with flatwounds

Hey guys,
Ive recently been getting into a lot of jazz and i am looking into getting a fretless bass for myself. I thought who better to recommend me a bass than the Fretless club lol. So ya, what do you guys recommend? My only really criteria is that it must be cheap and im pretty sure i want lined fretless. I really dont care about anything else but im looking to play some Jaco, some Medeski, Martin and Wood, and to just create some of my own music. Alright thanks guys.

Allow me to point you in this direction! :D ;) She's certainly not the absolute cheapest "starter" fretless you can find, but I'd wager you dollars-to-donuts that far better made with better material than a beginner's fretless.

...and now that I'm done pimping my own listing, the Link Removed is an amazing bass... not even "for the money", but period. That Fender can put out a quality bass for such a low price has most of here astounded and wondering why they can't do the same with their mid-range Made In Mexico basses. ;)

And a beautiful one at that. I dig the rug too! (seriously, I dig the rug, too!)

Thanks a lot man. The rug, while I dig it, is not mine. This isn't my picture, it's the picture off the guy I bought it from.

The bass will be at my house tomorrow though. :) On Saturday morning I'll give a nice little review of it... it will have already been through two gigs (one at 2 am!) and full band practice.

Oh. Still dig the rug. Too bad it wasn't part of the sale.
