The Gig Swap Thread

Discussion in 'Band Management [BG]' started by jive1, Oct 25, 2012.

  1. I play in Nephilym out of NC we live in Raliegh, Fayetteville and Tarheel, NC And mostly play Fayetteville. Writing our 4th album and not gigging at the moment but I got some venues for you guys to checkout.

The rock shop music hall. Biggest club here. Located near downtown fayetteville. About 2 times the size of the house of blues, 2 huge stages, one at each end of the club. Back stage area. Hosts big nationals like deftones vanilla ice lol and so on. Mostly original bands but they have nights with tribute bands even open mic night on the smaller stage. No cover bands. occasionally one sneaks on a bill but its rare. One downside is the place is so huge you can draw hundreds of people and it still looks empty. Club owner Shawn is a musician and great to work with.

The drunk horse pub. Fun new club. Closest to fort bragg. Its the middle as far as size. Stage is great for 3 and 4 piece bands but a little tight for 5. This is mostly original bands Ive yet to see or hear about a cover/tribute band playing there. Club owner (Pauly) is also a musician and great to deal with.

The Black Cat. This is the smaller venue. Small stage. Great for singer songwriter and small bands or acoustic gigs. They except all kinds of acts.

"Its" entertainment city. This is the place to play for cover bands. They have an indoor stage they use mainly for bigger shows like Halloween and New Years but the patio has cover bands every week.

The doghouse. For cover bands. Decent size outdoor stage behind the club. They also have small bands inside. But normally inside its acoustic or 3piece bands. They don't seem to have live bands on a regular basis.

4th Friday downtown fayetteville . Every 4th Friday downtown streets are open to anyone who wants to jam. This is a bring the tip jar type of gig. Great for exposing yourself to new people

    Now the big gigs.

The crown coliseum. This is pretty much reserved for huge touring acts. Although we did get to play there as pre game and post game entertainment at a semi pro basketball game.

Festival Park. Great outdoor stage with nice indoor dressing rooms for each act. Tough to get on gigs though. Most of the festivals have the same so so bands that are buddies with the organizers. We played the dogwood festival on this stage as rock 103.5s guest.

Fort Bragg forth of July festival. Biggest gig Ive ever done. Opened for Tonic and Lifehouse a few years ago which was odd because we are a bit heavier. were talking attendance in the tens of thousands . This one is more for big national acts but occasional radio stations will sponsor local bands.

My band Roger This is a rock band that is truly a melting pot of many music genres. We're located on the south side of Chicago and are always looking to expand our audience. Because of our eclectic style, we mesh with a lot of different styles of bands. Hit us up if you plan on rolling through the Chicago land area and need a show.

My Rush tribute band, kRUSH, is looking to move into the Philadelphia are. We are currently playing in Delaware.

If anyone is looking for an opener that would help get us "in" to a good room in Philly, we're up for it!

We can definitely return the favor as we use openers a lot.

    Hello All!

We are a three piece pop-punk/indie rock band from Connecticut. We go by the name Gentleman Giant.

Looking to play gigs with other bands in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire areas.

We do have a few dates booked that we could swap gigs already in Connecticut.

The dates we have to swap are 2/7 and 3/29 currently. I have more date coming soon and will update the post.

Please feel free to give a listen to some of our acoustic work on bandcamp and our full band music on Facebook and Reverbnation.

PM me if you are interested!

Music type is general good timing rock music. Thank you. (shukran!)

Hey guys I'm setting up some out of town shows for my band Mass Driver. Is anyone here within three hours or so of Knoxville? I'm looking for locals who'd like to split some shows.
We are a heavy rock three piece along the lines of Fu manchu, 70's rock, and punk.

Someone once said that leading a group of people is like herding cats. In my experience, managing a band is like herding a thousand rabid and delirious cats. One has to worry about finances, promoting the band, booking shows, and managing the relationships between members. And that's all before you consider the extra responsibilities of musicianship when the manager is ALSO a contributing member of the band.
  12. I play in a Fayetteville,NC based band with members living in Raleigh, Fayetteville, and Tarheel, NC. Haven't played up that way in about a decade. Would love to get some gigs up there. We're pretty much available every Friday and Saturday that we don't already have booked. Don't mind playing first or playing a low paying show in order to get our foot in the door.

I may need a sub for a Waterbury CT gig on 9/23. Pay is $90, and music is modern country, and blues (SRV, Allman Bros.).
  14. Hi all, great initiative and idea !!

I play for The Revellions, garage psych rock band based in Dublin, Ireland. We just released our new single called False Hope and we're about to release the 3rd album of the band (the one I signed in for). We're opened to gigs with local bands to bring them back to Ireland afterwards:

    Facebook: The Revellions
    Music: SoundCloud (also on Spotify)
    Latest single released: False Hope

    Thanks !

I'd like to network with blues type folks in the North East Ohio, and North West NY areas. I'm involved in an acoustic delta style blues duo in North West PA. The band can go from from acoustic duo, to acoustic trio, and electric trio.

  16. Returning to TB after a hiatus... My band, Sounds Like Words, is open to playing weekend shows around the Denver/Front Range area with other like-genre bands. We're all original. We've been called "Angry Helmet" and "Metal Jesus Lizard" and have been compared to other bands like Melvins and Shellac. We have ~ 35 minutes of music but can trim that to whatever is required.

Any bassist in the Danbury area looking for a gig? A band I had played with is getting back going - two good vocalists (male and female). Mix of classic rock (Boston, Journey, Heart, Benetar) and more modern stuff (Pink, Adele, Kings of Leon, 3 Doors Down).

PM if interested and I can fill you in.
