PDR>EWS BMC>LBA 2020>YYZ>LBA 2020>CABM+ (B15 sim)=WIN!!
Was going thru a box of stuff today and came across my old ART Studio MP and Behringer MIC200. These 2 units were where this tube Pre/DI thing started for me. I recall liking the MIC200 more than the MP with it's voicing selector.
So for fear of getting scoffed at...
How many here have tried these sorts of units in your quest for tube tone? Fundamentally they aren't that different from the boutique units we all lust after. I try most preamps I get thru my Bergantino IP310. How they sound thru the IP is a big indicator to me on how I will like them long term.
I plugged the MIC200 in just now and TBH - it sounds really good! I was a little surprised...
Who on here has experimented with these sorts of units and what were your thoughts?

wow pretty cool yesterday. I ordered my Khan directly from them. I didnt realize it was on back order so I called to confirm possible expected wait time. Obeid Khan himself answered the phone. He went into detail on the DI, uses, origin, design philosophies
i did tell him about the forum and this thread so maybe hell post on here one of these days.
question for any of the Khan owners here, anyone put it at the end of their board using the thru connection to a power amp. I know the Khan doesnt have any gain settings but he advised the thru was set at unity gain

@Rocksolid I started my tube quest with an ART studio MP too!! It was a good tube sound, but i was seeking the ability to eq my tone more. My amp (BA 115) is just bass mid treble, so i wanted something more parametric. I settled on the Two NOtes Le Bass tube preamp, and i have never been happier. Tube goodness AND massive eq capabilities. I still use my ART MP for vocals sometimes. I'm not much of a singer though...
Nice! Yeah, Obeid is aware of the shootout. I let him know back in July when I posted the audio samples. He expressed his gratefulness for including it.
It really is a great DI. Let us know what you think when yours arrives.

Haven't tried that. I can confirm the thru is unity gain. Whether the device is powered on or off, there is little to no change in volume. There is a huuuuuuge difference coming out of the XLR, though. I have no doubt THAT could drive a power amp in active mode. I tried it after my Demeter pre yesterday, and it blew the snot out of my headphone amp.

I used a Le Bass for a year or so. I liked cold fusion mode best. You tried that?
Yes!! cold fusion is what i run nearly all of the time. I'm a jazzer and was able to find there a clean tone with warmth and the benefit of the channel B EQ section. I actually only played around with the other settings briefly before settling on the cold fusion. I am running a Gold Lion tube in mine, what were you using?
btw thank you for your compressor reviews, your hard work helped me to decide on the hyper luminal. I have never been happier!!
@scubaduba did you have an audible hiss coming from your Le Bass? mines not terrible now that i got the low noise tube from tube depot but it's still there. Especially when practicing solo pieces. I ordered the tc electronics sentry noise gate but it's on back order 
I still have 2 arts. One with the voicing selector and the other without. I haven't used either in a long time. I mainly keep them for vocals. I did try it with bass though. I thought the one without the selector sounded better and was less noisy. I thought they both sounded better with a 5751 tube to reduce gain. I don't think either sound near as sweet as my Night Owl Edison's though.
