Hey at least I know it is red, and I didn't pay anything more than the normal edition.
Right? I thought this (even with a plain black one) when I mounted mine under my Nano. It looks cool all lit up and everything. Kind of a shame to hide it. I'd even think about using up board space on top to put it up in view. Vein? Yes. But it's a $220 "pedal" that's never seen.
Back to preamps And DI's - I'm actually thinking that I might try this this weekend. We have an (outdoor) wedding. I used my little board in front of my Genzler last weekend for an outdoor jazz gig. It sounded amazing. I may bring the combo (it's so light and easy to carry it's actually easier than making rom in my gig bag or something) and use the DI (post eq) from that. I can run the amp with no volume, but it's not like my combo will compete with our FOH system at all.
I'll be playing Sunday for the first time since February. I have never used the Oracle live or the LA-1A, so that will be a first. I also have a new (to me) bass coming. Traded my Dingwall Combustion for a US Lakland 44-60 (Joe Osborn) with Chi-Sonic pickups. It's a 4 string and I will need some low notes depending on what key the singer wants the songs in, so I may not play it. Plus it will be pretty foreign to me so I will want to get some time with it before gigging with it.

You should add a Broughton LPF/HPF to the equation, and then buy a bigger pedalboard. It's great for filtering out those subharmonic frequencies and tightening your tone. It enables your power amp to be more efficient and pump more juice without blowing your cab. I was able to use my GK 15" combo to fill a small 2-story theater for a community theater musical just fine with no PA support.
I wish the combo HPF/LPF units had an FX insert/loop. I like HPF - FX - LPF. YMMV
I received a Sadowsky modern 5 string bass on a Friday afternoon. I used it at a musical performance that night. Livin on the edge!
I have debated that again. Now that I've decided that I don't need a big Bergantino rig (at least for the foreseeable future) that has that built in, I may get a Broughton pedal. Get a slightly bigger board for that and maybe add my bigg muff back in for some dirt.

There are also always-on separate versions of the HPF/LPF available as well, of course, if that floated your boat. But then of course it wouldn't be bypassable. He made a filter FX loop pedal back in the day, but I've never seen one of those in the wild.

I don't use any LPFs, but I love the sfx microThumpinator for a HPF. Great piece of kit. I have two of them.
Yeah, I love my Thumpinator. Tried going without it once - never again. It's easy to overlook and eventually think it's not really doing anything.......until you play without it. If it ever died, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. I'm sure the Broughton is nice and all, but I'll never find out - I want my Thumpinator.
...and right in front of it, I'm using the Grizzly Bass which basically has an adjustable LPF....indispensable if I'm running any dirt at all.
I've got the micro Thump and I had the Broughton HPF/LPF. The mT to me works best at the front of your signal path which is where I want mine to take mud out before an Octaver or Autowah/Filter. When I had the Bro'ton after experimenting I found I preferred how it worked/sounded at the end. Great for taking high end fizz out with the low pass, but not so good for the how I wanted to use the High pass. YMMV & IMO and all that. Depends what you are trying to achieve with these filters.
So far (besides the Sadowsky SA-200), you guys have influenced me to:
—buy a Nano+ and Cioks 5
—keep the Sadowsky preamp/DI (as it replicates the Sadowsky sound with passive basses)
—keep the Teegarden Fatboy for now
—buy a Broughton HPF/LPF - truly an always-on pedal
—buy an Edison - lots of tubey goodness and variable gain there for a couple of C notes
—buy a Khan DI - holy crap, monstrous tone - awesome!
—buy an Effectrode PC-2A - awesome 3D old school sound there!
—probably keep my Keeley Bassist and one of two Seymour Duncan Studio Bass compressors.
Clearly there is no way to run all of these in series. At the moment, as California is still a no-gig territory, my neighbors are getting:
Sadowsky bass > HPF/LPF > PC-2A > Khan > SA-200 > Bergantino NV115. Crazy good!! And the GAS keeps on bubbling.
