The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

I think of all on your list, I'm eager to hear the comparison between the Mantle, Oracle, and Mayday. I feel like they should cover similar territory.
At this stage I’m just doing single preamp comparison videos (the preamp vs dry bass signal), but may be able to accommodate if videos comparing multiple preamps are requested. I’ve been busy this afternoon so haven’t had a chance to test the Mayday yet but it’s definitely one that I am keen to check out.
New Mesa arrived for me today as well, i'm really leaning towards dropping the Origin Effects SV Bassrig and just sticking to the Mesa.

They are hard to find and expensive when you do find one. I have mine and am happy to not have to chase one down. I’ve been on an experimental journey with Darkglass Hartke and mesa preamps and have been in and out with the plex but on its own it’s such a wonderful versatile piece of equipment. It’s got everything you really need and all sounds good. Good tuner, good compressor, good drive channel that’s all programmable. The eq is all programmable. The amp sim channels are awesome. It was ahead of its time when they came out. It’s got aux in and headphones as well as di and effects loop. It’s too useful for me to justify selling. It would be my last piece of gear if I had to pick only 1 thing to play into. I would love to see a re release of it with some changes like adding a channel that can cycle uploaded amp sims from gk and maybe a volume control for the aux in that’s not just wired to the master volume. Small things that are really just preferences of mine but not dealbreakers. The amp sims on there already give you so much control over voicing even before you get into eq knobs. If you can’t figure out how to make this pedal sound good you shouldn’t be around instruments. lol it’s too versatile that anyone can figure out a tone for themselves.

Three Nobles on Reverb, and for days not hours. Economy must be bad.
Economy and I think there’s just so many other tube preamps that came to market. The Noble is still tops for me.
Maybe the hype is beginning to die out and people are realising they can get just as good tone out of some of the new emulator pedals? Whether it is fully digital, something like the Origin Effects Bassrigs or even the new Mesa. We are spoilt for choice these days to get amazing tone at a fraction of the price of the Noble.
I have thought about the Mantle ($750) as well. Hell, even the Genzler Magellan Pre/DI pedal ($300) would be nice. I use a Genzler Magellan 350 amp on the rare occasions I use an amp and like that a lot. So do my bandmates.
That’s exactly it. The Noble is a very good piece of gear, but primarily a status symbol.
Another one of my hobbies is cooking. When it comes to pots, pans, and knives, I look to what Michelin-starred chefs use. Rarely are these the high-priced brands marketed with a lot of bells and whistles.
I apply the same approach to music equipment, looking at what bassists in world-famous bands use. The Noble shows up relatively rarely in that context, too.
You can get a Mantle for around $600 on the used market or if you watch the B Stock/blemished category at Walrus.
I really hope you can do a demo of the Mozztronics BP-8.
There is one demo of it that I've seen, but I like your demo style.
Another thing I'd like to know is how the Mozztronics BP-8 compares with the SB Underground Accelerator (since they are very similar concepts), so if anyone here has tried both, please report your opinions about that.
Yep, I have a BP-8 sitting here ready to go, it will definitely be getting a video. I’ve switched to 3 videos per week to clear my backlog somewhat, so the BP-8 should be done sooner rather than later.
