The growliest soapbars you've played?

That surprises me. I would've bet money that's a synthesizer, not a bass.

I have a black Nathan East sig BBNE2. When I first saw the video, I immediately thought the tone sounded like my Yamaha without ever knowing it was actually Nathan playing on the song. Having said that, I think you can get close to that tone with a CBC series Bartolini soapbar and a Glock preamp. You can really get that tone with EMG HZs (despite that many people hate on them) but since they aren't the size you need, I say try a CBC Bartolini with a Glock pre and treble rolled off a bit.
 
hey i was worried about my 95 thumb bass sounding weak due to the bass lines soap bars but i was wrong, way wrong. ive enevr heard a bass like this before youd be surprised. i say try em out with a good 3 band active eq and youll like what you hear
