The 'hardest' bassist

Well, man upright players would be formidable if they could use the bass as a weapon. I mean Les Claypool has picked one up a couple times also (scary thought). I played upright for many years and I know (good thing that bass was my high schools). For proof of all this check out James Bond smashing an upright into some guys face on Tommorow Never Dies :D

I say Josh Ansley first of all could crush flea, considering he has the most amazing bass lines in Catch 22 songs (he's their older bassist)
He sometimes goes at insane speeds with crazy rhythms and such, also he plays a fretless, and for the parts he has? it's pure insanity

Secondly I vote Matt Freeman of Rancid, he has insane bass lines, just listen to "Maxwell Murder".

This could be due to the fact I don't like slap? Or maybe it's just because I think those are some of the two best bassists.

If this is a fight, I say Jerry Only from the Misfits. Nice guy, but built out the ass.

Mock Turtle Regulator said it dead on at the start of this thread. Jean-Jaques Burnel would crucify Flea in every which way! He has the nastiest tone on the planet, he's a way better player, IMO, he's a black belt, and he and the rest of the Stranglers have been in more fights, and beaten the crap out of more bands, than any other bass player alive or dead. He's the original mean m..........r! Flea? What a wuss!
