Got a question... How does a Korean made SR400 compare with an Indonesia made SRX3EXQM1? I've got a opportunity to pick one up at a pretty good price. I heard the SRX3EXQM1 sounds pretty bright. I do prefer the lows... Maybe a string change? Anyway, just looking for thoghts. Music is blues and classic rock.

I must say honestly that I didn't try these specific models, so just some general considerations. First, SR's are often considered better than their SRX counterparts, and many find SRX sound muddy, which is not the case with the SR's. That's about pickups, though; for the tone of the instruments themselves you should A/B the tonewoods of these two models. Second, Korean production is of more quality than Indonesian one, for Ibanezes at least. Hope this may help.

I wouldn't worry about the Indonesian build quality. I have two Indonesian made basses (Ibanez EDB550, Yamaha RBX4-A2) and both of them are excellent examples of the quality possible from production basses.

I've never played an SR or an SRX. But from what I've heard and read, the SR is going to have a smoother attack and overall just be smoother than the SRX. The SRX is supposed to be big, bold, and aggressive.

Well, that's not just rumours about the Indonesian Ibanezes. I can't say that I'm totally satisfied with my Indonesian made SR705. Some frets are buzzing and require sanding, even not with the lowest action. I cannot say that it is poorly built, but there are some minor flaws, like mentioned.

This afternoon I traded in my SR 300 DX plus $300 for a 2003 (?) SRX 700 honey burst neck through:



Haven't had a chance to play it much but its way loud and agressive. A great alternative to my smooth as silk Schecter C-4.

Hey guys, I wanted to see if i could join the club and get a number. I just bought a SRX 505 for $250 a month or two ago. I love it. If i can i'll get a picture or two up, but i do not have a camera so it probably won't be for awhile.

I keep forgetting to post this, this is what happens when I go crazy and take the concept of a Gibson Grabber and graft it inside of an SR300DX:

Got the bass already routed from lunknfur (Dr. Dimento's pickup threads) and used it for electronics testing of my own, then one day had an epiphany that I had to do this.

Sounds awesome and between moving the pickup and the varitone switch (all passive here just volume and tone) I can get any sound I want, and it's become my main gigging bass. My guitarist literally said "What the heck IS that? That's awesome!"

And since its an Ibanez the neck is awesome and its light as a feather.
