I'd like to join... I picked this up at a GC on saturday. I can't find anything about the "PB" version online anywhere. It appears to be a '10 model with a mid switch.

edit: PB = Poplar Burl top Is this a limited run for the SR500?

I bought one (Serial No 100133240) at the Tallahassee GC this afternoon for $599. It came in last week and nobody at the store knows anything about it.

The regular finish 500 and 505 also have the mid switch (its part of the Bart 3 EQ package).

This is just a guess: the 500PB is a 2010 limited editon 500 with special finish which is being sold exclusivekly by GC.

So it's a GC oriented bass? Hmmm... promising... lol just picking with you.

I love the way it looks, and if it's anything like a regular 500 series it sounds amazing.

woohoo!!

on a whim yesterday, i picked up a set of roto77's for my peavey - been dying to try flats on the fretless. unexpected side effect - i put my 3 week old DR blacks on the 300dx and OMG. the action on it just snapped into place.

i can tap again!!

I just added a new Ibanez BTB 570FM to my collection, so I thought I'd get the 'crew' out for a shot.

from left to right:

Ibanez BTB400qm... my "working horse" bass, been playing it since 2002, and it's been through a LOT of gigs.

Ibanez Rickenfaker copy.. 1978 production. It's got some pickup issues (bridge pickup has gone microphonic), and needs a good setup, this was my first bass, got it back in '95.

and my new Ibanez BTB570FM... I had my bass-tech set it up with BEAD tuning, and it plays like a dream... I'm loving BEAD, I rarely play up on G, so it's the perfect mix of both worlds.

That's a great deal HOWEVER the person has 21 transactions and so that's why no one is bidding. I'd say it's worth no more than say 300-500. It depends on how much you want it. Have you gotten the chance to hear one or play one?

Hope you are still online Vin. I just bought a new rickenbacker and have an inside on several pawn shops in the state of Florida. In today's economy a lot of guys are pawning and selling good guitars for next to nothing and the shops are turning around and offering them to me for a price I can flip, especially the old 80s Peavey Foundation and Dyna bass guitars. I get these guitars, and if necessary, put new strings on them, polish and clean, set them up, check electronics, and put them up for sale. I use the little bit I make on them to help pay for the new Rickenbacker. I was just wondering if this was a bass that if I got him to sell it to me for 210 shipped, and after a setup and clean up whether I could flip it for 300 shipped with the case?
What do you think?
Jack

Could you? Yes. Should you? No.

There is someone out there who would pay that kind of money; however, such a person would be rare. Ergodynes are no longer made and so yes they are hard to find, but they weren't popular before. They are made of luthite, not wood. So yeah you could, but go search the ergodyne basses on the bay. They are all up for BIT at 400-500. None of them are selling. The one you found is one of only 2 the are up for auction. And the other is a 5 string starting around the same price. If I were you I wouldn't do it.

Gimme a No. PLEASE!!!! Had a SR405 YEARS ago, recently got this as a great!!!! 6 string. BTB676.
Has a Aguilar OBP-3 built in now which is nice(got it like it) 3 band EQ w/ a push/pull mid shift freq. & Mute/passive/active mini-toggle.

DAMN build quality of this is amazing!!! It really does it all!!!

Just put on layaway today the same exact bass at Guitar Center. I believe it is a limited addition or model that is only being sold to Guitar Center. The guy was pretty cool at my store though. I told him I had a coupon for 15%, free shipping and no tax from Musicians Friend and he gave me the same deal. So I got the bass, hardshell case, strap and straplocks out the door for $625.00 exactly. When I get my next check at the end of this month, I will get it off of layaway then.
