Musicians Friend actually does the coupons on weekends most of the time. Google search Musicians Friend coupon and it will take you to the site that has them. This guy simply took my word for it and discounted every item down. I actually didn't know that the bass was a Guitar Center only model. I thought it was just something new for 2010 because the SR 500's have been the same color for a few years now. The salesman acted surprised when I said I could buy the same bass online but I honestly wasn't trying to lie to him. The model said SR 500 and I know they are sold online. After talking with a few people on this site and the Ibanez forum, I found out about it's exclusiveness.

I'd like to join... I picked this up at a GC on saturday. I can't find anything about the "PB" version online anywhere. It appears to be a '10 model with a mid switch.

edit: PB = Poplar Burl top Is this a limited run for the SR500?

I just spoke with one of the guys at Ibanez and he confirmed that the Poplar Burl SR 500 is a Guitar Center exclusive bass for 2010.

It's so clean, I can't believe it's 28 years old.

It's like it's been sitting in it's case all these years.

I just spoke with one of the guys at Ibanez and he confirmed that the Poplar Burl SR 500 is a Guitar Center exclusive bass for 2010.

I was at Guitar Center today looking at this bass, and I tried it out. Nice sound and feel (seems lighter than the regular SR 500), but I didn't notice any difference when I switched the toggle switch back and forth. What's the toggle switch for again?

I believe it is a mid switch. When I was playing my bass, I tested it out and noticed a difference in tone when switching the switch to different positions. I am thinking that I will probably go and pick the bass up tomorrow.

I've got a 5 string Ibanez SR305 and i compared with my Vintage Jazz bass and for some ordinary reason the slap is much better on the ibanez.
