The Ibanez Club (Part 3)

I keep forgetting to post this, this is what happens when I go crazy and take the concept of a Gibson Grabber and graft it inside of an SR300DX:

Got the bass already routed from lunknfur (Dr. Dimento's pickup threads) and used it for electronics testing of my own, then one day had an epiphany that I had to do this.

Sounds awesome and between moving the pickup and the varitone switch (all passive here just volume and tone) I can get any sound I want, and it's become my main gigging bass. My guitarist literally said "What the heck IS that? That's awesome!"

And since its an Ibanez the neck is awesome and its light as a feather.

Intense! I love it.

Are you saying that pup slides?

If you look closely there are 2 wooden bars slightly elevated from the bottom of the cavity from the neck end to bridge end, the pickup mounting plate is attatched to those and can slide just about anywhere along them, also had to put a piece of somewhat rubbery foam underneath so it wouldnt move any when resting my thumb on the pickup.

looks like i can join up too - traded an old laptop for a '03 sr300dx (jb) this weekend.

been poking about looking for a fretted 4 for about 2 months now ... and for some reason, the blue ibanez's kept drawing me back. yay cragislist, and yay for people moving and purging gear!

best part - 1/4 turn of the truss rod, and literally a dozen passes with some 600 grit wet or dry on the back of the neck, and it plays every bit as good as my defretted 93 peavey foundation.

I'd like to join... I picked this up at a GC on saturday. I can't find anything about the "PB" version online anywhere. It appears to be a '10 model with a mid switch.

edit: PB = Poplar Burl top Is this a limited run for the SR500?

I think it was a limited run about a year or 2 ago, but that's pretty sick that you got a.....newer version of it somehow?

I don't say this often but, I've never seen that model of Ibanez, was it only made for a short run, or was it only made for a certain area? (like how some awesome ibanez's are japan only:crying:)

@BD Bass that's pretty much how I learned everything about building and modding, taking a cheap bass and just making things happen, honestly if I go too long without building something I get antsy and have to find something to turn into something else, this one just happened to turn out rather nice.

Is this a no pics, no bass thread? I'm pressed for time today, but I have an SR305DX and a BTB305FM

Sadly, my first bass, a GSR190, was destroyed in a modding process... I was ticked

So can I have a number?

Hello guys, I am new around here and just saw this club. I have a BTB555MP, which is a little rough cosmetic-wise, but it plays like a dream. The neck feels perfect for me.

Had a GSR206 for a while to start off with a 6 stringer. An old pic of my GSR206.
