If at all possible... try to save for this... MUCH better electronics and mahogany is amazing for tone... I have heard nothing but good about this bass... I have a slightly older SR305 and I'm not a fan of agathis when compared to mahogany... and the electronics aren't that great... but with the SR500 series, you get great-quality Bartolini electronics

EDIT: I have owned two mahogany basses and two agathis basses... and many different electronics... all by Ibanez... just so you know I have the experience to say all that

Maybe someone here owned this Ibanez Soundgear? I'm going to buy it. Ebay seller gives only name and photo. Can you assume exact model, wood types & other info about this bass? Here is photo:

Also, is $300 good price for this bass + used hardshell case? Thanks for any help.

Had the Roadster Orange version for about 3 weeks last year and I'd say it was a very nice bass for $300 (even nicer on sale for $240). Excellent finish, solid feeling hardware, good fretwork, very nice feeling neck, super light and well contoured body.

Only negative is the mids are a bit pronounced and overall tone was slightly nasally or thin for lack of a better word. I will say the EQ is pretty versatile and you can dial in some good tones if you take the time to play with the knobs but it's not a bass that's going to blow you away on EVERY setting.

I got the SR400QM shortly after from a TBer and I guess the Basswood/Maple top gives it a bit more clarity, more bottom and high end over the Agathis on the SR300. But it still has a slight mid-range emphasis - I may upgrade the preamp since acoustically the bass seems pretty well balanced and lively. And it's not that it sounds bad, it just sounds a little on the tame side.

All in all though the SRs are very nice basses and I'm most likely going to look into the SR600 or maybe one of the Prestige models which I have major gas for.

But the SR300 is definitely a good buy and I chose it over every other bass in its price range I tried at several GCs..

Ask him for the Serial Number ... There is a website that will give you the year model and Location that bass was made based off of the number. It kind of looks like an SR800 but the bridge is wrong. Hmm.

Love the soundgears for their action and super fast necks, just don't get as percise of taps on any other bass as the soundgears. What happened to the precision pickups though? That's mainly why I won't buy any of the new generation soundgear basses, they lack the P pickup and most of them are machine made which is like serving sh*t on a plate an saying it's authentic so and so food. But I gotta say, regardless, machine or not, they did get the right precision of comfort, action, and sound. They really should reconsider reponening the custom shop in this case, I'm not the only one who misses the Japan crafted soundgears with P pickups.
