Great pic. There must be something in the black paint/finish Ibanez uses. If you look closely at my fretless above, you can see my reflection in it. In this Ebay pic, however, it looks brown. I don't think it's the camera because the background is black. It must be reflecting something brown. I wonder how they look on stage under colored lights. Anybody have any pics?

Pro Line is a bit of a rarity, i'd get it purely because of that. The 5050 is the only one i have the specs for, the 4040 is a phantom...

what strings do you prefer?
i currently have DR black beauties (45-105) ... they are about 10 months old, and quite suddenly dead as a doornail. i only play about 3-4 hours a week lately, between guitar time, my fretless, and work / family stuff.
my peavey, when fretted, used to wear either elixir or blue steel 40's, currently has roto 77 flats ...
i loved the DR's at first, but it just seems that they died way too quick for as little as i actually play. and they are a bit grabby ... but i'm used to elixirs and blue steels ...
so does anyone have any suggestions? i prefer medium tension, do a bit of drop D ... sling my LP's with 11's ... the roto 77's seem a bit stiff to me.

There's a reason why most Ibbys come with Elixir strings stock 
A bit expensive, but they do sound good, adding a nice zing to the tone of the bass.

yeap - about the same as the DR's on it now ... i think i paid $45 for them. but, i stopped by guitard center cause i had to have them NOW ... instead of ordering them online and saving the $$.
DRs sound good as well, but their life is way shorter. Elixir can last a looong time (mine were still good after more than 1 year of constant abuse).
Played an Ibanez SRA305 today at Guitar Center, and I was floored! It was effortless to play- the action was nice and low, the string spacing was tight (my preference) and the electronics were simple and effective (Volume, Volume, Tone, Phat II knob, EMG-HZ pickups)
I really liked the neck! Wow, was that a nice neck. My Squier 5er has a HUGE neck, which is nice, but this Ibby was just effortless to play. I can't say enough!

Why does Ibanez keep discontinuing their blue finishes? There's only one place that even sells the blue SR705 now. I know you can get an SR300 with a nice blue finish, or the SR400 with a lavender finish. But if you want a 5-string Ibanez SR bass with a blue finish? SOL.
