...and I got it, if you are referring to the brown SR400FL that was on Ebay. I almost ended up with two! There was an SR300F in white that I bid on as well. I quit after I won the FL but no one outbid me for a day and a half. I was really sweating it!

I'll post a pic of the new brown sugar when it gets here as well as an in-focus pic of the my SR400QM above. :bassist:

Congrats on that win!.:hyper:
I'll bet you were sweating it out! LOL

If I REEEEEAALLY wanted to try playing fret-less, I'd buy the SR400FL over there for 150.00. It's a good buy. Sometimes they have really good prices and sometimes ...not so much.
There is a Spector Legend also, that they want 599.00 for used.:eyebrow:

Hey guys, just wanted to ask a quick opinion about sr300 vs btb400qm?
I don't think it matters what someone else's opinion about a specific bass is... What matters most is what you think of it. Do you like the way it feels in your hands better than "that one" or the way it sounds, hangs, the balance, looks, etc.
I have built basses in high school that (to me) felt better, sounded as good, looked better, hung balanced, etc (for under $300.00) than some of these "$2000.00" basses.

So try them out, I mean REALLY try them out. Don't play one for a few minutes and make a decision, go back and forth several times and compare everything- weight, balance, neck feel, tonal range, string spacing, hardware, electronics, etc... like you would IF you could only ever buy ONE bass and never buy again. Which one would you rather have for the long hual?

Well, I gave away my SR405QM today to a friend from my church.

I know most people here on Talkbass recommend you never get rid of your first bass, but the guy has wanted a nice 5-string bass for a long time and to be honest, I'm more than happy with my SX P bass right now.

I want to get an SR500, eventually. Then slap some SGD pickups in it.

So, I'm temporarily an out-cast in this club. I'll be back soon though.

I really like my SR506. It could definitely be the "only bass I own" or "go into battle with only one bass" kind of bass. It has such great tone, and it's easy to play. Been thinking of trying some ProSteels on it, although it sounds great with nickels on it. The 505 rocks, as does 705 and 755. I played a particular 706 that would have immediately become mine if I'd had the money at the time. It was head-and-shoulders better than other 706's I'd played previously. But I'd like to try a Prestige 5'er, but I'm afraid I'd attempt to buy it after playing it, regardless of my budget.

All that being said, I love the tone from the 500 series. Warm, rich, dark, with some nice natural mids that I really appreciate. I got mine used for a great price, and it was worth every penny.

Got to thinking about it - I have two Fenders (P and J5) and two Ibanez' (SR506 and Mikro). Since the Mikro is my daughter's, methinks I need to find a particularly nice Ibanez 5 string to balance me out. Whatcha think?

I tried ProSteels on my SR405. Was not impressed. I'd try some DR nickels of some kind or better yet Circle K strings.

finally pulled the trigger on my first bass. I've had my eye on the GSR200FM for a while, but haven't seen one at a decent price (ie, on sale for less than normal retail). But, I went into a local music store this week that I hadn't originally thought of (mostly because they aren't a "big name" retailer). they had an excellent price on an ATK300. Will post pics when I get around to it, but so far, its so much more than I had hoped for in a first bass I can barely put it down to get the stuff done around the house (and typing here...) I think i'm going to drive my wife nuts though, I've got cords all over the living room ...

Don't forget to join the ATK club!

Don't let the snakes on the floor bother you. Wires are important and add class to a living room.

As I see it - you only need two rooms in a house anyway:::

1) Music room
2) Bedroom

OK - add a kitchen - food's important once in a while.

...and maybe a bathroom - but that's all.

I'd try to combine them all into a single room with multiple purposes though. But keep the bathroom separated from the other rooms.

That is REALLY all now.
