Just picked up a like new (except for the discolored bridge) honeyburst SRX700 to go with my SR370M. Wil post pics tomorrow. Loving the Alnico humbuckers. Nice and hi-fi clear, but I can roll to the neck p'up and roll the treble off and get some old school thump. I like it.

I've had 5 Ibanez guitars in the past 10 years (both bass and 6 stringers), that were all Indonesian made. All were fine, but this one... There was just something severely wrong with the setup with it. Either it skipped the whole setup stage in QC, or someone in the store did something very wrong to it. :D

I traded it in for another one, and the setup was perfect. I guess we just gotta expect to get a bad apple every now and then. Either way, I now have an SR5XXV and I'm much happier with it. Pictures in a bit!

yes partially to answer your question, the lows are solid, but when you split the attack is brighter, a little growly, lows are still there in humbucker mode , but you have that 3db gain too so that makes it hard to say less bass in humbucker mode, because of the gain factor. I am getting ready to redo my computer so when I do I will put up samples!!!

My new to me SR500. Any info you can give would be appreciated. Plays beautifully.

I dated it and it is from Japan, made at that Fuji-gen Plant in 97.

I also looked at Ibanez Rules and it looks more like the SR800 than the SR500. Any definite way to tell the difference? Not that it matters a great deal as it is a keeper but I am curious.

You could go for some DR Hi-Beams, R. Cocco or Ernie Ball Slinky.

Elixer is a good choice too, since most Ibby's come with those strings. However, they are expensive, so if you want to pay for it, is up to you.

Elixir are expensive, but they last a very long time; DR sound good, but they die quickly. I also liked the Dunlop Nickel strings, but they were dead after a month or so (truth be told, I live by the sea so the salty air might have something do do with it - which is also why I prefer Elixir). So if you can afford to change strings frequently, you can try just about any brand of strings. If not, get a set of coated strings (except Warwick's - those chew frets like crazy).

On an 800, the back of the neck is painted to match the body. A 500 has a clear coat on the back of the neck.

It's time to get in on this club thingy! This is my Ibby SR300DXL. Ahhhh, the plight of the lefty. Got in on clearance after it hung on the wall at GC for eternity. Discontinued model. Absolutely love it. Changed the knobs to some skulls (ooooh!) and slapped a black B120 bridge on her. Next upgrades will be black Gotoh tuners and hopefully some new pups. To be honest though....this thing sounds great through my Mesa rig. No complaints, awesome fast SDGR neck and takes a beating. For a lower priced bass I definitely have gotten my money's worth.

Can a lefty brotha get a number? ;)

What is a good price for a used maple SR 1000 Prestige, no case.

I really like it but $699 seems a bit high. I seem to remember these being like $899 new.

FYI-It appears to be a maple top and body and its neck through. Also looks like and sounds like US Barts.

Hmm.. The Ibanez SR 1000 Prestige.. What a beauty :)

If it's possible, try to get about 100 dollars off of it. So about $599 is a reasonable price :) If it has any playersware (some scratches here and there) then you could go even lower ;)
