Looks great! Are they curved, to match the fretboard radius?Some may think I'm crazy, but earlier this evening I switched out the Bart MK1 pickups for Ibanez' CAP pickups. I'm much happier with the CAP's. I found the MK1's to be a little too "wide" sounding with my GK rig - a bit too much high end that I was having trouble taming. The CAP pickups bring a little more tightness & focus but still have some top end brightness, just not as extended in the top end as the MK1's. The bass & midrange voicing are very similar to the Barts. They are a much better fit for my tone needs, and I'm really happy with the end results.

Yes the SR1200 was new, however when i got home it seems like this is a 2011 model.. and there is no truss rod tool (hence the question )
Also, the gig bag that i was given, although Ibanez, is very nice but its huge and certainly doesnt seem to be SR specific... can somone post a pic of the correct gig bag that ships with the SR1200 Premium?..

That makes perfect sense to me. I'm unhappy with the extended top end of my Barts as well and have been looking for a substitute. I put in an MK4 on one bass and that's a sweeter sound, but as you said, it's just too much in the upper range. I want the treble frequency lower.
They don't make Caps any more, do they? I'm guessing you pulled those from an older bass.

Thank you sir! Yes, the CAP pickups are curved to match SR model radius. I had a look after installation and all the strings are even in height from the pickups. They sound great in the SR-705 and work well with the preamp & record very well.
The cool thing is that they still sound slightly different in the 705 than they do in my 375M. Perhaps differences due to different preamps. They sound a bit more modern in the 705, but they've reduced the "wideness" of the tone to a much better working area for me. Great fingerstyle & slap tones, IMO. I'm very happy with the pickup replacement.

Exactly the same situation here with the MK1's. Beautiful sounding pickups and obviously many people love them, but IMO they have a very high center frequency voicing in the top end. Somewhere around 8Khz or more to my ears. The Barts were just way too bright for my needs even in the preamp flat position.
Honestly, A/B'ing with my 375M (through my rig), I felt the CAP pickups would support better in a mix than the Barts would. So I wanted to bring more of the CAP pickup tone to the 705.
The CAP pickups are very much still in production - I think they started putting them in their 300-400 models around late 2010? Versions of the CAP pickups are also found in the ATK Premium 800/805 models and in their top tier Grooveline models in single-coil sized pickup casing. They really caught my ear in the 375M, which in turn made me purchase the 705.
Ibanez will sell the CAP pickups or even their preamps, etc. through an authorized dealer. I simply found a local Ibanez dealer, gave them the part number (can be found on the Ibanez website under Parts), and they ordered them up. Not a bad price - $120 dollars for the pair on the 5-string set. The pickups are virtually identical to the MK1's in the low and midrange voicing, but reels in the top end a little, but still has plenty of highs on tap if you want to dial them in.

Here is mine SR785 '09. Just upgraded pickups with Nordstrand Fat Stacks and Mike Pope Flexcore preamp active passive, single coil tap bass/ treb. Lo/hi mid and passive tone. I was having the same problems clanky high end hard to tame. The Nordstrands are pretty even sounding. Most of the time I am running flat on onboard eq depending on song roll in a little bass or a combination of lo or hi mid. I also use passive then when you active single coil tap you get a 3dB boost and the tone of single coil. Couldn't ask for a better situation.

Did that come with the SR1200? I have the anniversary model. It shipped with a gigbag more bass shaped and is a pretty snug fit for the bass.
I just bought a beautiful older SR3000 - what a fantastic instrument! I had never played a higher-end Ibanez before. I wish I had tried one years ago.

Huh. I wonder if they will sell that jazz shaped pickups that were in the Ashula. I think those things sound fantastic. ballsy and throaty.

I'm not sure about the CAP pickup in your picture, not the same model number that I ordered. The part number you want is: 3PU2SC0009 (for both four & five string basses). Just order two of them, and you are all set. The pickups had no markings or indications of a specific "Neck" or "Bridge" position. The Ibanez website denotes them both as being for "neck & bridge". Just drop them in your instrument and you're good.
The CAP logo should also be in the upper left corner as in the pic below:
I would think so - they sure sold my local dealer my CAP pickups (and a bridge I'm still waiting for). Worth asking a local dealer.
The Ashula part numbers:
3PU2SC0001 (CAP Sonic Arch, 4-string Neck pickup)
3PU2SC0002 (CAP Sonic Arch, 4-string Bridge pickup)
3PU2SC0003 (CAp Sonic Arch, Mini 2-string pickup)
I've been wondering about replacing the pups in my 97 SR406 with Barts, but if CAPs are that good, maybe I'll just get six string CAP pups and a matching preamp to go with them. Would that work?
Not familiar with the SR-406, but an interesting thing with the SR-256 (6-string) is that the part number for the CAP pickups is still the same model as for the 4 & 5-string version as well. It is still 3PU2SC0009. So apparently, Ibanez humbucker pickup cavities are universal sized on many of their 4, 5 & 6 string basses.
Sorry - back on track. What pickups are in it now? I can measure my CAP pickups later tonight if you'd like and let you know the dimensions. Since apparently the same CAP Sonic Arch pickups that work in my 5-string just might work in your 6-string, dimenions-wise. What I like about them is that they sound fantastic and my SR-705 still sounds like my SR-705. It still sounds very much like it did, except that if I want as much treble as I did before, I can boost the preamp highs and it sounds nearly identical on the top end as the MK1's did (in their flat position). The highs on the CAP are just as sweet (not harsh) as the MK1's, just less extended. Perhaps a trip to a local GC or other Ibanez dealer can help you decide. The trick there is trying to find something with CAP pickups in it without dead strings on it, lol.
