I already posted it in the ATK thread, but I'll repost here, since this thread is a bit more active. And I kind of don't want to make a new thread about it.

When I just got it (my ATK 800) the pick guard was faded (dried out I guess), it was almost grey in some spots. So I put some lemon oil on that thing, waited a bit, wiped the excess oil off and repeated that a couple of times.

It worked, it looks great now, but there is something weird going on, there are little spots of oil all over that thing, I can easily wipe them off, but they come back pretty quickly. It doesn't look like they come back in the same place, but I'm not sure about that.

Do you guys know what's happening, did I do something really stupid?

A plausible explanation could be that you overdid the amount of lemon oil. And that the scratchplate is "sweating" it out. I suggest you keep wiping the spots off of it untill it stops.
When I use lemon oil on my rosewood fingerboard, I use a tiny amount on a cloth and after bringing it on I immediately polish it with a clean piece of cloth. Only after a few hours I possible repeat the treatment, but usually it's not nessecary.

Now that you mention it, I might have put a bit too much oil on the pickguard. I guess i'll just keep wiping it off and hoping it stops soon.

Hey guys, I've been having problems with my output jack on my ATK 300. Do I need to buy another barrel style jack, or should I get one of the standard ones? Will a standard size one fit?

I got the ibanez jacks off of ebay. The ones you will get the solder leads are long at radio Shack or switchcraft types.

Forgot how wonderfully slim and small hand-friendly[to mine!] those Ibanez bass necks were.

New set of strings and the (always) "no charge" generic setup our local music shop`s musician-guitar techs perform,and new Ibanez will be READY! (Excited,big-time!!)
