I got a jazz bass like that at home but no means to measure it for you now.
Have you tried Bestbassgear.com? When I ordered mine, they had no stock, yet I had the preamp shipped within a week.
I have good experiences with BBG
I have, but their site has listed the MMSR 1-pickup 3-knob 3-band preamp as "on order" with a 4-8 week lead time for the last month. Hard for me to justify dropping $230 without a reasonable idea of when it will ship. I was also wanting the version with the chrome banana plate for my Ray4 so I can swap between preamps more easily, which they don't offer. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Me too. When I was shopping for my UNI-PRE I was ordering directly from Mr. East and got it in no time. Great service.
Audio Engineer/Bassist here, huge fan of East products. After installing a Uni-Pre 4 in my Spector I no longer needed a compressor pre Mic pre when recording. I've always used a compressor pre Mic pre, then use a small amount of compression post when needed whenever recording Bass. Uni-Pre and ACG preamps John East makes have instant punch. I'm completely sold, any quality recording needing bass punch your going to do. Your engineer will thank you either while recording or after you sent him your tracks. I don't often do smooth mellow genres so I can't comment too affirmatively, but the man knows where the sweet spots are and how to make them shine. If you haven't bought one and shielded it correctly and recorded with it, do it now. It will change the feel of your entire mix, positively! Whole nother level, Pro Quality and worth it!

I just looked through the documentation on the East website and it mentions “battery”. I didn’t see any reference to 9 or 18v. So for the moment, I would have to ASSume that the Uni-Pre is 9V only.
I thought I remembered wiring my J Retro Deluxe for 18V (using an existing 2-battery box). That was 3 years ago, I can’t remember specifically if I wired it for 9V (batteries wired in parallel) or 18v (batteries wired in series).
Hopefully Mr. @John East can step in and clarify this.

I use a Mike Lull M5V Jazz-style bass with a J Retro Deluxe. And I use a REDDI Tube DI everywhere. Live and recording. Nothing else. I never leave home without it. It always get high praise from engineers and I’m completely happy on all the recordings I engineer and/or play on with this combination.

I have a UNI 5 in the classifieds and someone asked, i didn't know how to answer. I gotta say I am on the fence about selling it! I don't have a bass for it but I keep thinking just keep it anways, you never know...

Same! Been stalking them for a MMSR 3-band 4-knob. Mr. East mentioned they could do a custom configuration on a UNI as a drop in for a Dingwall, I reached out but haven't heard back. Seems busy and I'm in no rush
He's great, but I think there's some trouble getting certain components.
I've got an MMSR on my Stingray. It was a 2EQ originally, which was nice, but the addition of the semiparametric mids control takes it to another level. When I ordered it I asked John whether he'd be able and willing to install a bypass switch on the volume knob... and he was. I've used many aftermarket preamps over the years, but for me, the John East ones are the best. I'll wait until they become available again.
