The Kramer Club

Check out the body.

Very pretty,I love the character of birdseye maple. It looks to me like it's solid wood halves instead of how Les Paul's for example are constructed with thin"tops"making it easier(and cheaper)to bookmatch the top.
Here's my Kramer 650B,it's body is all laminated, even the center birdseye maple is 2 pieces,a front and back.
You can't tell from my pics, but my center birdseye section looks like it could've come from the same tree as yours.

KramerBassFan keeps track of that stuff. He will be around to hand it out and welcome to the club.

Wow!!! That's a perfect mirror of mine! Looks mint too. Mine is not quite mint, there are a couple of small body dings but the pointy headstock is perfect! Unusual for pointys that are this old. I've noticed that my tuning pegs have a small amount of play in them. Not the gear itself, but the part that you grasp and turn. Is yours doing this? And if so any recommendations on a fix?

The year and model are approximate on mine, best information that I could dig up online. What's the scoop on yours? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't give this bass up for anything. Had many offers for it and turned them all down.

ya it's a 88-89 alright.
The part about the "I wouldn't give it up for anything", is naturally your choice for a reasonably nice 200dollar passive unit very common with the pointyhead just like the fenderhead version. I'm a Jackson collector, but have had some nice lefty and righty Kramers.

The only Kramer I have left anymore is a lefty forum3. :crying:

Okay Kramer Forum,

I am looking for someone who actually owns or did own a Kramer Ripley Bass.

Steve will make me one from his current old stock, but I am curious to see if anyone on the forum has one. I've been through about 15 pages and no sign of it.

I think Kramer made super nice basses and tend to get overlooked for some reason. I actually only have Kramer basses at this time.

Here is my Pioneer Special. It has an unfinished neck that feels awesome!!!!!!. Great P-bass copy.

I also have a Focus 77 bass that is kinda rare. Don't see too many of them. Super nice bass with a Schaller double j pickup.

And after having to sell my Fender Jazz recently because of finances, I really missed having a jazz type bass. I just won this Pioneer Double J on ebay yesterday for $158 (thank goodness for Christmas money!!). Can't wait to get it. It will go great with the Pioneer Special.

Living here in the Neptune area for most of my life, yours is one of only a handful of Focus 77 with the double J humbucker. I bet it has a killer sound.

Lookin' fer a number - or do I get two? These are "vintage". So am I - had 'em since they were new.

Very nice,I love my "Lumie" and that they stick out from the pack of Fender looking basses.I don't think I've ever seen the aluminum exposed on the end of your fretless fingerboard, can't tell from the pic,was it that way from the factory?
I'll take a number too when it's convenient please, here's mine.I bought mine used for $450 in the 70's,the pic's from the 80's.It's the only bass I've kept, when things got tite in the 90's I sold my old Kay uprite and my fretless Fender P,but I'd keep my old 650B even if I had to live in a van down by the river!!!

Hey guys, thought I'd show off my Stagemaster.

I bought it from a kid in the neighborhood who decided he didn't want to learn to play bass after all. I think he had it for all of 3 weeks or something. It was my 1st real bass, and I've had it since '80 or '81, not sure. I've had a bunch of different basses over the years, but I've always held on to this one for sentimental reasons. I also had a Duke for a while when I was playing Top40/NewWave around '86 or so. Wish I had never sold that guy...

As far as I can tell it's rare burgundy color. I've never seen another one like it and it's not listed as a stock color. I put the Barts and the Badass bridge on a few months after getting the bass. Probably wouldn't do that now, but what did I know... :)

It was my only bass for about 5 years, so it's been through a lot. Couple of chips, bunch of scratches, cover plate replaced with clear plexi, electronics replaced, knobs fallen off, lost, found again, lost again finally replaced, only to have the tone knob fall off again. Not sure what's up with these knobs... :)

And yeah, I'd like a number... ;)

Hey all. I picked up a Kramer bass a few months ago, great price, although it has no electronics. It's currently a work in progress.

No pics ATM because I'm at work and I'm on my iPhone, but they'll be coming, and it does really exist.

Now what I'm looking for is for someone who can tell how old it is from the serial number, I called the number on the Kramer website, which was Gibson customer service and they couldn't find anything. So if there's anyone in here that can decipher Kramer serial numbers, please let me know, then I'll post the serial number.*
