The Laney Club!!!

Recently purchased some more (old) Laney from local classifieds, a 4x10 cab. The seller had bought it secondhand in the 90s and replaced the trashed tolex with fur.

I wanted a 4Ω cab to run as a "beater" rig with the old Marshall 3520 amp I recently got hold of...and the cab only cost me about the same as a day's worth of cigarettes and coffee (when I was a smoker), so I'm happy.

*P.S. Any/all plates and labels are long gone, so information regarding these particular cabs is appreciated.

Hey there. I just bought an old Laney RB6 in good condition. It’s older as it doesn’t have the sliders for the EQ. Does anyone know if/how a pair of headphones can be used which would also stop the speaker/horn working as well?

I really like how my Laney R500H head sounds. Hardware is 100% silent and equalization works great.
I'm surpried they discontinued it considering in their actual catalog now they have good heads but they are are quite different products.

I bought my first short scale Bass (jay turser the one I have posted that is heavily modded now) along with a Laney HCM15B amp for 150 Canadian from a teenager that had lost interest and parents were selling it.. Amp was in good shape except scratchy pots , after a little pot cleaning it is perfect. IT is surprisingly loud , for such a little amp and built like a tank. It even gets used in small gigs sometimes, way better than fender rumble crap imo. And a great deal:)

Most of the videos that I found have used the DBV212 and that is what Nathan East is actually using. I had initially wanted the DBV410, but the response is comparible, weight is a bit less and cost in the US is +/- $200 less with the DBV212.

So, I was reading a bit about the H][H branding on the speakers. Turns out that this Cambridge origin company and Laney a Birmingham origin company were both acquired by another company in 1989. Both companies were started in 1967/68 time frame. H][H was a serious electronics company building amplifiers for broadcasting and supported the BBC and affiliates allover the UK. Then moved into the festival music system arena with clients like Pink Floyd, The Sweet and 10cc.

I was listening to a review and the moderator said; "I've heard a bunch of 2x12" cabs. Some good and some really not so good. The DBV212-4 is a real good one!"

What we have here is a Cinderella Man from some blokes who know Bass amplification (like some other guys in the UK) have been doing it for sometime and didn't want to be just another contender. They put Head & Heart into the Digbeth series to be the most smashing Class-D Bass experience on the planet! :bassist:

The Digbeth is my first preamp pedal. Got it yesterday and so far, it does not disappoint. I like the tone in both the FET (a bit of a 'woolly', 'vintage' vibe) and the TUBE channel (nice, modest 'crunch' which could be always on, if you ask me). The EQ is quite responsive, yet easy to dial in. I also happen to like this pedal for headphone practice. Others have reported a low output, but with a few extra volume clicks it works with my Sennheiser HD280.

I had not heard anyone mention this and it's too cool...!

Knobs are smaller than they appear, face plate is black with a fine blue sparkle and construction feels solid.:thumbsup:

The cabinet is on hold until I try it with other cabs..just to see how it sounds first. It smells great, too. No wiff.

A guy in Round Rock, Texas on Reverb has one of these 80's Laney 240 watt @ 4 Ohms cabinets, in good shape, with the cabinet badge intact. If perhaps going a bit vintage vibe for a DB200H could be of interest. (The Marshall pictured is also 200 watts @ 4 Ohms.)
