Flint, I bet that sounds killer. How heavy is the 4x10" to lug around? At least the 1x15" is super light-weight for the bang it provides.
I know it wasn't directed at me, but as an owner, they are fairly light. Lighter than pretty much any old ceramic I've had to lift. But it's definitely better on your back to have a second human to give you a hand, or throw some casters on the thing. It is still a 410 after all. It says on the site that it's about 60lbs [well, it has it in kg, but that's just weird to me]. But to add to that, I'd say the handles are not exactly balanced. You definite feel the mass of the speakers twisting your grip towards the front.
Worth it for the sound of the things.
As somegeezer said, it is easier to move with a friend. IMO, 4x10" are always going to be difficult to move. At least this one is lighter than some.
As for the sound, I can't be any happier. The Ampeg head sounds great through them. I do not have any problems dialing great tones with any of my basses (Fender Jazz, Fender P, SBMM Ray34 and MTD Kingston Z).

i tried a using it in conjunction with a peavey ,linking them with a bbe cross over,that set up sounded fantastic how ever was not practical for a live sound .
i now only use the laney with my G&L L2500 and love it !! i think i will get a quad box for it .edit-i now have a gallien krueger nonported quad box with it as the extension. ...its fantastic. .pics soon

I've owned the RB8 for a few years now, unfortunately for the past year its been in the UK while I'm in France, I miss not having my amp. Very clean and clear, I really didn't like that particular sound but I've changed my mind since owning the RB8. It's punchy and it's more then I need live.
I'm tempted by a used Laney 8x10 - but the top 4 speakers are different than the bottom 4. Can't find any info out about the cab. Its before the Nexus series. Its a B810C cab - looks like a sealed cab (not ported) and only 640 watts (plenty for my needs). (Made in UK by BLT Ind.)

My main guitar amp is a Laney VC-15, so when I needed a small bass amp for practicing at home I went for a Laney RB1 also 15watt and more than enough to annoy my neighbours...
I went to see a Laney RBW300 (model which later became R3 and after that became the RB6)
It's an combo older than 15+ years. I really liked the character/sound of the amp: Fairly flat and natural. Responsive speaker, not slow.
Unfortunately the combo was worn had flaws that made it unusable for me: Crackling sounds(not just when turning pot meters!) and something buzzing near the speaker.
There was also white noise when the horn/tweeter was on. Which was a real shame!
The Eq sections is how things should be! 2 para mids.

A mate has offered me his DP150 410 combo that he no longer uses on the cheap. I've seen photos of that model and though I'm not one to look a near-gift 'oss in the mouth I live in a second floor flat. My back hurts just looking at the amp.
Does anyone know how much it weighs? Google isn't sharing. I'm not even sure it would fit in my little hatchback!

Specifically? No. But similar budget 4x10" combos (from Trace, Ashdown, Behringer, etc) can weigh 40-50kg.
I'll put this here just incase it proves useful to someone who may have questions about it.

Heh. I've been to look at it, it's "heavy". He'd be doing me a favour at the price he's asking but it's sadly not worth the back problems.

I have a Laney Pro Bass I picked up a lifetime ago I sued to have the world's biggest 1x15 cab but it was just too big for comfort so I went unconventional with a pair of 2x12 cabs (One is a Phoenix with twin Celestions, the other I made myself with two Mackenzies). I figure that if one 15" or or 4 10" speakers will work, four 12" is fine I have a double tweeter unit to sit on top, largely for show/height but adds a bit of attack on the rare occasions I slap.
The Pro Bass has more knobs than you want to count. 47-band EQ (O K maybe about 11-band) plus a parametric EQ, preshape and a built in compressor (not a limiter which is what it says on the fascia). It also has three (count 'em) effects loops (pre, post and post-post?) In not-=quite Trace Elliot style it has funky 'clip' LEDs.
I find it very flexible in terms of getting different tones and never felt short of power playing up to medium sized clubs/big pubs without a backline but we weren't going for Motorhead-levels!
