Love the punch this thing has, my amp is an early '70s Univox 100W tube amp, and it destroys any solid state amp I've ever had, especially with this cab.
Considering I haven't been in an organized group since I bought it, I dunno. I'm sure if I were ever able to get into a group and were good enough to play a gig it would handle itself just fine in any of the local venues. Most of the cities around here are 20,000 to 40,000. With Rochester being just over 100,000 and the twin cities of course. But gotta start with baby steps. I figure once I start playing gigs at Target Center, the Xcel Energy center or the Metrodome, I MIGHT need to get something bigger! 
Bassman, I just happened to find this in a music shop in Albert Lea, MN. I actually was looking at a Hartke 4x10, but when I saw this monster, I couldn't let it get away from me! Just keep your eyes open. Poke your head in all the music stores/pawn shops in your area. They should have inventory rotating in and out. So check them out once a month or so. Or, just ask the manager if they can keep an eye out for you. Leave your number with them and if they get something in, have them call you. I'm sure they'd be willing to keep your number on file for a guaranteed sale if someone wants to trade one in.

I got a bunch of Laney stuff. I have a 50 watt ProTube and two 100 watt ProTube heads from the 80s. Depending on the volume needs of the venue, I'll use one or two 2x12 boxes or one or two NX410s. This is a rock rig for sure - I was looking for a 70s era King Crimson John Wetton tone and I found it.

Yes, I have. It's a pretty awesome amp. But it's as impractical as the valve version. Pretty much as heavy as an all-valve head. You only save a few kilos over the Nexus valve. Might as well go the whole hog I reckon! ;-)
The upper enclosure is a B-2000 where the blown amp was thrown away. Bottom cab is a newer NXP 1x15", deep enough to support the 2x10" above it.
Many people on the TH500 threads praise their "high-end" cabs with the amp, this suffices for me nicely, and it is very "modular" too.

I am planning to get the rig I posted in #113 above out of storage for an upcoming gig, June 14th. It should be just the ticket for my classic rock project. Class reunion in a largish hall with dinner seating and dance area.
I am returning a Hartke head to a store, which should give me the option of getting my money back. Failing that I see they have a Laney B1 in the same price range (used). The features seem top notch. Do you guys have one? Is it good?
Since this thread popped up... I used my Aguilar TH-500 & Laney cab stack pictured in post #113 on my class reunion gig on June 14. Large hall, about 50 people in attendance. The stage sound was superb, and I suppose the front of stage projection was adequate. I had the D. I. plugged into the mixer but I don't know how much of that the sound guy dialed to the mains. Quite a nice economy setup and easy to lug around too!
