Maybe you could indulge the internationals in the audience by adding a few location-specific choices to the poll? Here's a couple of suggestions for us in the antipodes:

"I live in Australia. Even the mere suggestion of wearing shorts doubles my risk of being stung/bitten/eaten by a poisonous spider/snake/jellyfish/shark/wombat. And if I survive that, I will undoubtedly get severe sunburn."

"I live in New Zealand. It is necessary to wear long pants all the time to avoid being scalded by the streams of boiling mud/lava. Besides that, only hobbits wear shorts."

My one time wearing shorts at a gig was decades ago (cargos were not a thing yet), they were Jean cut-offs at a block party. I was rail thin except for my shoulders and legs, no one complained.

Fast forward 35 years, approaching twice the weight I was at that shorts gig. Ironically my legs are the one part of me that isn't fat (I power walk and bike regularly). Skateboard punk sitting outside a hipster coffee shop jumps up in front of me while I'm walking by and practically yells: Whoa! DUDE!, you've got some POWERFUL legs! Are you a surfer, did you used to board?!
One of the weirdest days of my life ensued.

Oh... and carrots!

If style is a factor important to a band I would advise against shorts. Some can pull it off, some can't. Personally,if I see shorts it is almost always accompanied by sandals and is a fools on stools affair.
Or is the reverse and is camo shorts and combat boots jamming metal.

52 yrs on the planet in these pictures. You can hate them all you want, I'll still rock my shorts when I'm feelin it. And a hat, too:

Not too sure anyone's looking at me this gig though.

Living in Arizona, all of the above applies. We also have volcanoes and haboobs. ;)
