The Lefty Union... Revived!

Okay, so I finally found my old list, and I've started adding people again.

The following people haven't PMed me for a number - but I've been kind enough to give you a number anyway :p

LeftyDan - 108
leftybassist - 109
mjolnir2730 - 110
synaesthesia - 111
eyvindwa - 112
Alembicplyr - 113

Welcome to the Union, everyone! :)

It just lets people know you're a member. Most people just post the following line in their signature:

Lefty Union Member #___

There really aren't any "perks" to it. But we try to help fellow lefties out whenever we can, members or not! For example, we have a photo gallery thread that Peter Squire started, and a helpful FAQ on finding lefty basses by Avid. Both of those threads are in the Basses forum.

It's a sense of community and pride for us, in a world full of right-handed people. :smug:

All lefties unite. I have been known to say that as left-handed bass players we are twice oppressed. (does this make me part of a minority?) I recently sold a steinberger style moses graphite to a fellow lefty in Vermont. It was the nicest bass I ever owned. Being left handed we are all used to being kids in the candy store that just had their jaws wired shut, however since we have made it through childhood to tell the tales, we are masters of making lemonade out of lemons. There is a nice upright here in portland that is for sale if anyone is looking, let me know.
In solidarity,
b

I have had one REALLY cool experience as a lefty. One day a buddy called me up while I was out of town, said: "dude your not gonna believe this, I'm at a huge guitar store and they're having a blow out sale, emptying the store in one big slash prices sale, and it's the end of the day and they havent been able to sell this lefty 60th anniversary MIA precision bass ($1,125). ...... So they're selling it for, get this.....$125!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

So I freaked out and had him buy it for me. When I came home I had a brand new P bass that plays like butter waiting for me. Good friend! Bought him quite a few drinks for that one.

warwick corvette. lefty. i love going to music stores and deciding what i will buy based on how it plays upside down. hooray! from warwick to schecter.. people always comment on my two piece bands.. first thing.. wow.. your left handed?>
ha horrah!

I just started playing in February 2007. I learned on a LH acoustic bass my husband got me for Valentine's Day. He's been wanting me to jam with him for a long time. He's RH guitar/bass/keyboard/everything else player. By my birthday a month later (the big 5-0), I was having so much fun he got me an amp! I have a LH acoustic guitar he bought me years ago but just never got into learning it but I really enjoy the bass.
:bassist:

I just bought my first (and last) electric bass...a Hofner 500/2 LH Club Bass. I don't like the flat-wound strings and my acoustic plays louder through the amp but I love the lightweight fit/feel, which means it's more fun to play. I'm going to put round strings on it and play around with the guitar pickup controls and the amp to see what kind of sound I can get. Any of you other lefties have any advice?
