The Lefty Union... Revived!

Me too :-)

I'm a lefty, though I started out playing righty (upright basses in public schools generally are not lefty. They're usually barely righty...). After several years, I finally made the switch to a lefty bass. So now I have the benefit of being ambidextrous on bass. But only on bass. I'm purely a southpaw otherwise.

Fun fact: The word "sinister" originally came from the Latin word "sinus," meaning "pocket." The "evil" connotation of "sinister" didn't get attached to the word until the Middle Ages. Lefties were held in high regard in ancient Greek and Roman societies.

I guess there's just not that much to consistently talk about. :)

We could talk about how it's been reported that Gibson is supposed to make their entire 2014 line available LH, but so far nothing has appeared.

Or how I was searching very old threads here on TB and found several where people were being encouraged to learn to play righty instead of left-handed. Idiots.

Or about that beautiful Engelhart; I have a very old beat-up student model that I rarely play anymore. Righty restrung for LH play.

Really? I've seen at least a 2014 Thunderbird with that silly 12th fret inlay. I'm thrilled with my 2013.

Have you? In the flesh? Some retailers are offering various models, but they're either 'out of stock' or 'awaiting arrival'. I've heard that some US sites have pulled their listings for LH 2014 Gibsons. There's zero information on Gibby's site, and some of their service reps are saying this or that model is not available left-handed for 2014.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the inlay, but I'm interested in getting an SG Special in Fireburst.

Sorry, then I've probably seen the same thing as you. Try calling Southpaw Guitars. They tend to know what's what.
