Read your post and was keeping up ok until all the midi assigning stuff since im not too familar with all things midi as well. I know doing it with a controller in hand rather then just visualizing your instructions would be easy though, very nice tutorial. Nice pic of the set up and nice use of space. I was imagining a ridiculous setup but this can easily be set in any corner of a room.
Now if its not too much to ask (at this point come on now its not!) lets see this set up in action. Same angle as the picture, just set up a video camera and do your thing man.
I'm just going to weigh in on the MIDI, it's really a lot less complicated than it first seems depending on your application. Understanding channel, PC messages, and CC messages is really simple, IMO. MIDI clock is also pretty simple. Now, there is stuff beyond that which gets complicated, but you can do a TON with what I've outlined.
If you know and can explain the actual formula to determine the codes for Control Change and Note messages it would be greatly appreciated.
I was commenting more on MIDI in general than with regards to Ableton specifically---sorry, maybe I should have read the post better.
Here's a couple loops using the setup in the link above. First one I made this morning and the other last week,
Cool stuff. You can really tell the convenience of having everything readily available by the quickness of each loop being added.
Not gonna lie was hoping for a vid of it taking place livebut regardless some good stuff man.
