The Low End Bass Shop, Brian Barrett

I live in Murfreesboro, about a 5 minute drive from the Low End shop.

5 minutes. I'm not kidding. They are just outstanding - easy to talk to and there for what you need, and they won't badger you around or make you feel uncomfortable - in fact, Brian gives you ACTUAL, FACTUAL information (as opposed to say, oh, the slouch at GC) that is HELPFUL! :bassist:

His setups are absolutely incredible - my Carvin played like it was a totally different bass after Brian was done with it!

I live in Smyrna, so it's a 10 minute drive for me. EVERYONE here should check it out sometime. When I walked in the first time, I was surrounded by *crazy* high end basses, and Beavs (I think) said "Hey, if you see anything you want to play, just grab it off the wall." Quite a thing to say when there are $10,000.00+ basses within arms reach! Nothing there really touched Brian's basses, though. It's a serious feast for the senses; if you're lucky enough to check it out in person, *don't* take the wife or girlfriend - between the financial implications and naked lust, you'll be sleeping on the couch for a week.

bought a new Nash Precision from Brian at the end of '07 and a used '95 fretless EBMM Stingray which he traced especially for me.

I wish I could give him good credit for talking on the phone but frankly it wasnt necessary as communication with him through email was fast and clear, pricing was fair, shipping was fast, packing was very well done and the basses were as described or better.

he's the first guy I'm gonna contact when I'm ready for my next bass purchase.

I have bought an LEJ6, Lakland Darryl Jones 5 and sold basses through Brian. he is patient and operates with total integrity. from a customer service standpoint, he is the best in the business always providing information, advice, tracking numbers, timely returns and never hard selling. his basses are a combination of traditional design with an ultra modern sound. he is always experimenting with different tone woods and pickup combinations. Brian is rapidly creating the next "sound" in basses

I agree with you, I bought 6 basses from him in the last 3 years. He's very professional, always answer the emails and treat me very well . About his instruments, Low End Basses are really very good ! I have one LEJ 4 strings and it's the best JAZZ BASS styled bass I'd ever played. Also THE LOW END is being one of the best custom shops in US. I just send him a Carl Thompson bass to refin and add some modifications and it's looking great !

if ours were truly a just society...Brian would be our ruler.

i have never bought a bass from him (for my son)...but that is only because we can't afford them...i have had my eye on a sea-green thunderbird and if i had 3 grand, she would be my son's

what i have done, however, is taken an existing jazz (probably MIM but don't know, since i bought the body off ebay) to brian to customize.

we wanted a precision pick-up mounted just below the neck ala Jack Casady @ 1968.

he did it. he did it superbly. he installed a stacked vol pot so we could use any of the three pick ups at any level we wanted.

and he did it all for @ 150.00! my God i couldn't believe it.

it works superbly, and he treats us like kings every time me and my son walk into his shop...and the only thing i have ever bought from him, aside from the custom Jazz work, is a T-SHIRT!

i worship at his temple....on the Pantheon of Gods of GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, Brian sits as Zeus! if this were what customer service were about everywhere, the consumer protection agency would go out of business.

i urge any fence sitters to have a go with brian...whether from a quality standpoint, a sound standpoint, or a customer service standpoint...YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!...but be warned...after doing business with Brian, you may not want to go anywhere else...and hands off the thunderbird! we are getting it as soon as i have 3000.00...:D
