Am I the only one that doesn't completely understand what's going on in this thread?
I'm genuinely curious what you're making these videos for...
Just for fun? To kill time? For promotional purposes? Do you want them to be quirky? Are you looking for feedback?
I am doing them because I am compelled to do so. I'm not really looking for anything; just sharing. Some are VERY quirky; some are not as much so. I do not take myself terribly seriously, and yes, I am having a lot of fun. I would be surprised if anyone watched the majority of them and thought they should hire my 53 year old ass to be their lead singer.
Thanks. I think you sing great, and have an impressive range. The not blinking thing spooks me a bit at times though. I was going to suggest that if the videos were for getting gigs or something, that you might want to consider lightening up a bit on the stare. If that's what you're going for though - then you're doing an excellent job
.
PS. Talking from experience here, as my gaze has been known to make people uncomfortable at times. I actually worked on it though, and believe it's gotten much better. It think it has something to do with the type of drugs that were available in the 70s, as opposed to what the kiddies are munching on now. At least for me.
why not find a solo gig somewhere and go from there, probably more work there than a band deal these days. Sadly this town aint what it use to be for live music.
I might just do that. Problem is, I like playing bass.I do play bass on most of these.
I make "some" of my backing tracks. I steal multi-track karaoke recordings and usually steal the drums, and then add bass, keyboards, acoustic guitar and vocals. Sometimes I have to cut them up, to do the arrangement I want. If you hear electric lead guitar, I most likely used what came with the track. I do not play electric lead very often, unless it's very very simple.
I download the tracks individually, and then build the song. Many of them, I just use a drum track, and then I record an original recording on top of it, track by track the same as if I were recording my original material. Since the drum track is timed, if I decide later I want to use some strings, backing vox, etc, I can easily match up the other tracks.Just curious..the age-old question..how do you lift/mute tracks on your multi-track karaoke recordings?
