I like that, its easy to add lows at the amp. I'm fighting with my MIA J 2008 being super warm with the rosewood but that was through a mixer set flat. I'll have to cut lows at my amp & see if I retain punch. TBD !

Lacking lows isn't the best way to describe it. It more not boomy and even. It has plenty of lows.

I love alder/maple. My Fender jazz that Mike PLEK'd when I was rolling through Seattle is that combo. Plenty of low mids and bite as well. Would love to order a Lull to replace this bass but it's too good to move along. Some basses got it... Some don't.

With all this talk about tonal woods...I find my best results when A/B-ing is to not use an amp but something that is as clear / transparent as possible.
The Cafe Walter headphone amp work really well. Even really nice channel strips can have there own personalities.

I just traded a warmoth I had for a brand new Carvin....I never tried one before figured why not....I hate to say it but that bass has it! I am so shocked! I might have to keep it for a beater! its really fun to play and sounds wonderful! I am still in shock! It has some issues like a cheap jack and needs some shielding pretty bad.....and some rolled fretboard edges would be nice.....but other then that its kinda spectacular!
If I still have that in September...which i probably wont the way I go through basses I will bring it Tony!
Lulls hit or miss rate with IT is pretty good though! and even the ones that arent wonderful come close!
what is there to see? they wait till pat wilkens sends the body back then they assemble it in like an hour! they have all the necks and everything all ready to go!

I actually just sent back a Carvin PB4. Thick blocky feeling neck, though the 14 radius may have been to blame. Bad jack, extremely low output G. I wasn't impressed. I hope the Lull is it for me. Between owning Fender, G&L and Carvin I'm running out of P options.
The lull neck is almost the same shape...but its much thinner and a bit rouder and really rolled edges....they feel much better then the PB4...I am going to try to roll the edges on this thing today I think!

Mine also had a really low output G string....and a boomy A string so I lowered the inside of the pickup and it made it all totally even and smooth! This carvin actually feels ok and sounds really good.
the jack is all messed up....but I think I fixed that.
The strings could go a touch lower too....but its all the way down in the bridge....and I am not taking the neck off and shimming it! Its good enough!
You lull will be a much better bass! Did you order a jazz neck with it? thats what I just ordered a P with a jazz neck. all my lulls sound wonderful! and feel better then anything else I have ever played!
It totally stopped my GAS!! I have no GAS for anything! I only got this Carvin cuz someone offered it to me for a trade and I never tried one! I never even heard of this thing a week ago! lol
Ok I am going to attempt to roll the fingerboard! I just hope I dont have to do fret ends after! I am not so good at that! I am Italian....we cant do anything straight!!

Its not like that a %100 per say, bodies and necks can and do come in at different time from the finisher.
Mike builds only 1 day his hands are on it and don't forget each one is plex-ed as well to order. A lot of the optional components like Nordstrand pickups and pres are not sitting there in stock (speaking from personal experience). However the folks over at MLGW don't wait to long once they have everything.
I just took my V4 out after playing that carvin the last couple day....everytime I play it after playing another bass it feels like home!
It might just be perfect for me....but I dont think I could ever sell this bass for any amount! It took me trying over 80 basses to get this feel and sound!
