The Mixed Drinks Thread

If you want to get good and hammered:

Long Island Iced Tea
1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz tequila
1/2 oz rum
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz triple sec
1 1/2 oz parts sweet and sour mix
Splash Coca-Cola

Or, for a Blue Motorcycle, replace the sweet and sour mix with Blue Curaco, and omit the triple sec. Fill with Sprite instead of Coke. Great for getting loaded.

A good novelty drink is a Flaming Dr. Pepper.
-One shot of Amaretto
-Splash of Bacardi 151
-Light the shot on fire
-Serve boilermaker style with a pale lager
It really does taste kinda like Dr. Pepper.

As for me, however, just give me a Beefeater Martini, stirred, with a twist.

Funky Cold Medina:

1 shot vodka
1 shot blue curacao
1 shot Southern Comfort
Top up with cranberry juice
Serve in a tall glass with ice

Slippery Nipple:

Baileys floated on top of sambuca

Love mojitos and bloody marys. I also can dig a margarita on a hot summer day, but I like them better without the crushed ice and little on the tart side. and I'll drink a cosmo every now and then.

A regional favorite of mine is a Dark n' Stormy, which is Gosling's Black Seal Rum and ginger beer mixed. Looks beautiful and tastes delicious.

I just found two recipes, one being for a classic Whisky Sour, done with the simple syrup and lemon, not any of the mix. Another that I am going to try when it gets a little warmer is a Lavender Lemonade Martini. mmm mmm.

I do love Gin and tonics. Usually with Bombay Blue and Canada Dry tonic.

I need to get myself a bottle of Drambuie.

Also, I see a few Stoli fans here; that's usually what I buy but anybody tried Svedka? I hear good things about it, I'd like Tbers' opinions about it.

When I have the choice it's the way I make them but at the bars I frequent it's usually beefeater+president choice tonic.

I have a bottle to, but I'll be calm tonight, I kind of drank a bottle of Cabral 10 anos port wine yesterday, very good and not that expensive in the realm of portwines (28$ bottle). We then opened a bottle of 2005 Taylor Fladgate, The Cabral was much better for only a few dollars of difference (21$).

My grandma actually got me hooked on Poppers a few years ago.
Take a double shot glass, fill 3/4 with Jose Cuervo and 1/4 sprite/7-up, cover the top, then carefully smack the shot glass on something hard that won't break, like a thick hardcover book or something, then quickly take it to the dome. Fun at parties and whatnot, as long as no one gets a little too excited and ends up with a handful of blood, glass, and tequila.

Also Gin & Tonics + lime. You can mix those suuuuuuper stiff and still hardly taste the gin at all. Its like alcoholic magic.

Washington Apple

2 oz Crown
2 oz Apple Pucker
2 oz cranberry juice

Nuts and Berries

1 oz Frangelico
1 oz Chambord
4 oz milk or cream

I'm guilty of tossing this in a blender with a couple of ice cubes and converting it to something that resembles a smoothie, too.

Breakfast in Bed

1 1/2 oz Captain Morgan
1 oz Buttershots
1 oz Creme de banana

Mix as a shot, then chase with orange juice.

I don't know about the whole ounces thing as the wife and I use these monster size plastic mugs we got in Havasu awhile back...they have travelled the world with us. We take them to weddings as a joke.

Fill 1/3 to 1/2 with ice. Pour enough vanilla vodka so that its now half full floating, top off with 1.5 cans of diet coke or so, hit the hut tub.

We had to check once. Its about 3.5 shots per mug which is perfect for the 30-40 minutes in the soaker.
