I put 125 B Nickel XLs on my Jackson Professional. I didn't have to drill the hole out, just very minor nut filing.
I put 125 B DR Fat Beams on the Kelly. I had to drill out the hole one size bigger on this one.
I like the sound of the Xls better.

I've been playing a 4-string BEAD on my Jag for a few years now and LOVE IT. I'm about to go BEAD on my P-bass Special! Still have other regular 4s and a regular 5, but BEAD is my ''go to''.
Oops! Forgot the obligatory pic (or it didn't happen). So, here it is, the Jag with BEAD and the P-bass to get it soon. May I have a number @FFTT?
Thanks in part to encouragement from this forum, my Fender 4-string J-bass is now tuned BEAD, using the bottom 5 strings of an elixir light 5-string nanoweb set. It is my one and only bass, the x-mas concert is coming up, looking forward to going lower.
I had to do a complete setup, nut filing, bridge, truss rod. But think some of that is because I opted for a slightly heavier string than before because I didn't want a floppy low B.

I just went BEAD with Daddario chromes
On my Fender Jaco fretless bass. It feels great to play the thicker strings and the tension is perfect for me. It's kind of what I miss when switching from upright to electric. Getting a deeper sound which is cool too. Scared to gig it, but very fun to practice and record with at home...

Love my BEAD Dean V. It's a wild looking thing anyway, so why not give it some extra freaky?

Hey, so I tried this before and am trying again!! LOL. I really dig those DR drop strings and they work great down to a low C, for some reason tuned down to B is a bit much though(115 gauge).
I'm not gonna lie, this is tricky getting the same setup or close to one of my standard tuned basses. Anyways I recently did a trade and got this 85' NJ Warlock(when they were actually made in Nagoya Japan)

Those 2 are my only passive's and they're some of the best sounding basses I have. Smooth, silky and buttery. You can crank up the volume. Sits very well in the mix for rock. Those Jackson P J pups are great.
Oh I bet!! I miss the old NT Jackson Charvel I used to have, though it was active. I also prefer passive and all of mine are at the moment.
