Is it the instrument or the style of music played on it? I can see where really folky style hippie stuff annoys a lot of people but what about:

The intro to Over the Hills and Far Away? Going to California? Or the first days of the new album? Or some of Kottke's stuff? Or clapton unplugged? Or nirvana unplugged? Alice in Chains unplugged? Or "The Blessed Hellride" by Black Label Society?

Most annoying to be in the same room with is a shredding electric guitar. gah. , but depends on the tone.

Ditto with drums, although i play a little. Some cymbals hurt liek hell when you dont have earplugs.

Most annoying to me would be drums. Especially djembes played by people who dont know how they work, and have no "rythm." hehe.

Yep. Then again, I've never heard it played well. It's a traditional instrument here, and it's one most kids seem too pick up, mess around with for a few weeks, then decide they hate the thing. I've never heard it played by anyone who's been whistling for much longer than a few months.
