The most mournful melody?

Yeah, not to cross threads here, but for example, I won't be posting anything off of Pink Floyd's The Wall (or any of Roger's other dark gems) here. Very mournful, yes, but no, I don't need to hear any of that ever again, it's not "constructively mournful", leaves me in worse state than when I started.
All horn players raised with the standard rep. know it, it had a hipster pop revival by NYC's Lounge Lizards
I always say the best melody line in (almost) any PF song can usually be found in Gilmour's guitar solo. He does make it "cry and sing". One of a very few who can at that level (Santana being another).
This got pretty dark with just a little mode change.
Hard to choose just one from them. (Steve Wilson was already mentioned).
Cool, I play with that trick sometimes. Going to have to learn this version. (Can't sing that high though, octave down should make it dark and nasty.)
Not exactly mournful per se. But of all the dark songs I know this one musically NAILS the utter hopeless euphoria of being in love with a heroin addict. And you know you are in for a ride when a song's lyrics start with "Your eyes are just like black spiders. Your hair and dress in ribbons, babycakes."
The music sounds like it's going to resolve somewhere nice, but then never quite does.
This has brought many Czech Americans to tears over the years, maybe a few others, it's a very hopeful piece too. This is the right tempo and that Chicago brass section was the best, Largo from Symphony 9, From The New World

Incidentally, my wife and I were married to that song! Jeff Buckley...so brilliant.
