They had an Alnico Pickup and a maple neck that felt like a Fender P!

It was my first bass, over 20 years ago, and it rocked! But then again, I may be emotionally attached to it... ;-)

Warwick Corvette Fretless. It is always bought on whim by many because it's an affordable but "high end" bass and then quickly discarded when the user gets frustrated trying to learn to play fretlless bass. I see the thought process now.
"Ooo a Warwick corvette fretless used on TB for only $650. I've always want to try a Warwick and I've always wanted to try a fretless so I'll kill two birds with one stone. Heyz I can't play this so well even after a whole 2 weeks of trying realz hard. Warwickz iz crap. Fretlessiz iz dumb. "
Thus being relegated as overpriced junk. These basses are mwah machines when set up right and in the hands of someone who can play actually play fretless. And they punch like no other.

100+ replies and no one has mentioned the Charvel 3B .Neck thru , active with preamp and high mass bridge .Killer sound and playability all for less than the price of a used Fender

can some give me a quick insight on the MusicMan SUBS?

they were made in the USA by Musicman in San Luis Obispo for a short period of time. Production ended in 2006 and the last reminants in stock were sold around 2007-8

They were made in the same factory as other US Musicmans
they came in both active and passive versions and 4/5 string varieties in the SUB version. 4 string in the Sterling version

I love my SUB and while some folks believe that they are not as good as a regular Stingray or a Ray34, I think the tank-like construction and 2 band pre really sets it apart

another underrated bass (but highly appreciated by those who own them) is the Washburn Status series 1000
While it has an all wood construction and not the carbon graphite neck like its UK made Status cousins, the sound is unbelieveable

The hardware and preamp/pickups are all made in England and the bass was built in either the US or Japan depending on year

My BB614. No one around here has ever heard of it or seen one, lol, so I think that makes it very underrated.

I've always thought about changing some things on it, but I never have and probably never will. So i'm getting a SX precision to mess around with

And a big +1 for the Ibanez gsr190. It was my first bass and sold it to get a MIM Jazz....worst decision ever. I miss that little spunky bass

Also the Washburn Taurus, that is a fantastic bass.

Dean Edge Pro 5. I always get rave reviews about it's looks and sound. It plays really well, action can be set very low, even jacked it up. This bass is a keeper

Even though the Squiers are considered great values, I think they're underrated. Some are great basses, not just "great for the money." And some of the guitars are really great too.

Epi T-Birds.
They get talked about a fair bit, but with good reason. Mine cost half as much as my Fender, and is every bit as brilliant, if a little different.

My Yamaha is a great bass. There's a hum right now that I can't seem to fix, but it plays, looks and feels great. Sounds great, too, the hum is just a little annoying between tunes in a very quiet environment.
