The most Underrated Bass out there

Ibanez ATK, G&L L2000, Yamaha BB, Peavey Cirrus, Ibanez BTB, Yamaha TRB... All of these can be had for fairly cheap on the used market.
Most underrated?
Fodera Emperor.

Any 60's Stack Knob Fender Jazz Bass.

I nominate my Hohner B Bass V - you don't hear much about these, but they are versatile neck-through active/passive with a nasty streak.
Those old DeArmond Pilot Deluxe basses were pretty sweet too & I've seen them for $200 or so on the used market. I'd say that's a pretty good steal.
My starter pack was a gsr190, and I still think it's one of the best value basses out there. I've never seen another, though, only the gsr200's. Not really sure what the difference is anyway.
The only difference between my GSR190 and the 200 is that the 200 has a black plastic headstock cover, but newer 190's have that as well, so it beats me. Still great basses.

Over 25 years old and you can get them for under $150.00 with original hardshell case.
They had an Alnico Pickup and a maple neck that felt like a Fender P!
It was my first bass, over 20 years ago, and it rocked! But then again, I may be emotionally attached to it... ;-)

The new (2009) epiphone Thunderbird pro's. Best deal for $500-$600. you will ever get! Active humbuckers,graphite nut, Amazing woodwork, great action, badass style bridge, cast tuners,etc.
I used to see a lot of the Conklin GT line in the mainstream stores. They always struck me as being a lot of bang for the buck. I can't say that I've owned or tried to gig with one, so can't comment on tone or reliability, but they felt well put together and played nice IMO.
I'd clarify the GT7 (once setup) .. some of the other GTs aren't hiden gems...

My vote....Fender Jazz Foto Flame, or really any early 90s jazz from Fujigen factory.

I think the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature qualifies. It's tone is simply astounding!
+1 on the Casady. I love the Varitone... and it comes in goldtop too. (also they're under 800 bucks, can't beat it. So beautiful.)
