Pick your favorite current version of the Muff. Let's keep it just real-deal EHX Muffs...not the English Muff'n (which is really only a distant cousin to the Muff family), not clones or other fuzzes.

Anyway, I'm using the LBM. I prefer the smoothness of the NYC Muff rather than the Sovtek, but I replaced my older NYC with the LBM because it's just as good but smaller, cheaper, and 9v compatible!

I find I get the best tone from oceans. My personal opinion of course.

You forgot more durable.

I would have voted for the LBM myself, but i've only compared it to the NYC; don't know about the others.

I definately agree. I like my civil war version even better.

But that's not a choice, so I'll say NYC all the way.

Yeah, it's not easy to mod; the micro-parts seem like they'd be [insert your expletives of choice] to change out.

However, why would you want to mod it? The bass response is stellar, so much that I often crank the Tone knob UP to get a bit less bass and more treble.

I only do that with my flatwound-strung bass. I turn the Tone back down for my roundwound-strung bass
