The Needlessly Oversized, Inconveniently Excessive Bass Amp Thread

Older than that... Realistic Minimus-7. 40+ years old and still workin like a champ.

Digs all the way down to 200 Hz! :roflmao:

With the current HPF fad on Talkbass, the Realistic Minimus-7 just might be reissued as the Subway MiniMesa-7 for the tidy ole sum of $1999 each!

I gots me a stacked pair on order for only 4 grand!

My only complaint; they are a bit heavy at 9oz per cabinet. I was hoping that 9oz weight would be for the pair. Might be a deal-breaker. Once I receive them I'll report back. But, if they are anywhere near a pound total for both cabs, they're gettin' returned. My back ain't what it used to be.

Man, I should have included these pics in the original post, but didn't think about it till now. I really tricked the back of the rig out. I made all of the cables to length, routed them with cable mounts, made quick release cables to connect the power rack to the processing rack, and even used LED indicating plugs for the two power amp power supplies.

My rig from approximately the turn of the century: Fender BXR 400 running in bi-amp mode; Low end - 200 watts into a pair of Dietz 1x15. (each cab probably loaded with a Carvin PS-15) Mids/highs - 100 watts to the 8-ohm Peavey 410TX. Yes indeed, my friends . . . 250 pounds of DEAR GOD, WHY ME ???

Exactly the sort of rig I’d have been using in the 90s. Racks, rat fur, everything heavy as sin. Love it.

Stupid thing with 810 is to try to roll them over the cables and carpets. And some 810 don't have side handles to lift with colleague so they are not the nicest thing to move around.

Two light 410s are easier to handle in that sense (by lifting one by one) and folding hand truck helps moving them around otherwise.
